Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it. Accidents and fault are not mutually exclusive concepts. There's the whole idea of negligence. This event is the very reason why some people oppose offshore drilling in the first place. Especially when we're pushing the limits to exploit a well like this one. I can't even conceive of what the long term effects of this will be, but it's going to dwarf Valdez by several magnitudes. How the hell do you clean oil out of marshlands? Louisiana is still trying to fully recover from Katrina, and this is going to destroy their economy. On top of that, anything that gets shipped along the Mississippi is going to skyrocket in price. Shrimp already went up 2$, and that's on the wholesale end. All this, and we're still in the 'figuring out what the hell to do about it' phase. The actual solution could take months to years to execute, with this well pumping out 200,000 gallons a day in the meantime. - Comment on OM NOM (2010-04-30 08:52:04)
That's an amazing arachnid. I love how creeped out people get when they see a spider that can take down a mammal. Is that species aggressive towards humans? Looks like a good pet to me. - Comment on cop car stack up (2010-04-29 15:18:07)

Dunked until soggy. There's a point where the cookie starts to loose it's ability to sustain itself... you want to pull out just before this point. Nothing worse than loosing half a cookie in a mug of milk, although it's fun to find it again when you drink it at the end of the session. Oreo dunking is an art, and it's one of the few treats from my childhood that still makes me very, very happy. - Comment on hello my friend, stay a while and listen (2010-04-28 19:07:48)
Hey, I quoted Farnum the drunk. I'm guessing the only +1 that my comment got was from someone else who actually played the first one. Hell, I remember anxiously anticipating D2... for like 3 years. - Comment on in the emperor's name let none survive (2010-04-28 14:52:52)
This is why I fucking love the Imperium. "Chaos claims the unwary or the incomplete. A true man may flinch away its embrace, if he is stalwart, and he girds his soul with the armour of contempt." - Gideon Ravenor, The Spheres of Longing - Comment on I cannot imagine a god (2010-04-28 13:21:25)

No, tiki. I wasn't talking about any of that. The work he's done regarding the bomb detection unit is admirable, and there are obviously some folks who he shouldn't test due to safety issues. I'm also not discounting all the good things he's done. What I'm talking about is this: "THIS OFFER IS NOT OPEN TO ANY AND ALL PERSONS. Before being considered as an applicant, the person applying must satisfy two conditions: First, he/she must have a “media presence,” which means having been published, written about, or known to the media in regard to his/her claimed abilities or powers. This can be established by producing articles, videos, books, or other published material that specifically addresses the person’s abilities. Second, he/she must produce at least one signed document from an academic who has witnessed the powers or abilities of the person, and will validate that these powers or abilities have been verified." This basically means that the only people he will be testing are obvious charlatans. People who seek the spotlight for fame & fortune. If there was someone on this earth who could demonstrate an unexplainable ability, who is to say that it's someone who would want to be recognized by the media? - Comment on Skeptic Trumps - II (2010-04-24 16:21:35)
Sorry, tiki, but the million dollar challenge is bullshit. Penn & Teller could do a show on it, that's how bullshit it is. The qualifications needed to even apply for it are bullshit, the money you need to pay out of pocket to apply is bullshit, and the restrictions and conditions he puts on it are bullshit. Aside from that, the JREF (James Randi Educational Foundation) Forums are bullshit, too. Nothing but a place for pseudo-intellectuals and wanna-be scientists to pretend they know more than anyone else. All anyone does there is wait for someone to show up with a question about something unusual and then they all stand around and verbally stone them while patting each other on the back. My favorite is when they accuse someone of using anecdote as evidence, and then in the next thread use an anecdote to tell someone how wrong they are. Professional skeptics are dangerously proud & closed minded at times. - Comment on Haters Gon' Hate (2010-04-21 17:00:38)
