$0.899? They found some backwoods gas station to have had it so cheap in 1993 when Clinton took office. This is the problem with people: they can't restrain themselves. Why did they need to take the $0.899 price (a price I would have loved to find around here in 1993) when $1.099 would have been just fine? And you don't need $4.039 when you could have used $3.899. What, a $2.80 rise in prices is not bad, but a $3.05 rise is unforgivable?

Trust me, nate, the truthers don't need EI to make them look like nuts. - Comment on Smoking Kills (2008-08-08 12:32:39)
@GorillaMunch You do realize that they can control for environmental toxins, right? If you have two groups of people (both living in the same environment, mind you) and the smokers have a significantly higher rate of lung cancer, it's kind of hard to blame it on mercury levels in the drinking water (or whatever). After all, the non-smokers are drinking that same water. @flood123 That episode was one of the few where P&T were guilty of as much bullshit as they normally decry. College education was another one. (Yes, you can be quite successful without a college education. I wouldn't recommend it.) - Comment on ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS IN GOLD (2008-07-31 14:42:16)
@reboot Precisely right. I don't see why people are obsessed with a rock whose value is MOSTLY perceived over a piece of paper whose value is almost entirely perceived. Gee, you have a fistful of unusual rocks, and I'm supposed to be impressed? What next, diamonds? Commodities-backed currency constrains inflation but it also constrains growth. While I'm at it: # of depressions on Gold Standard: 1 # of depressions off Gold Standard: 0 That's not to say the GS is bad. That's to say that the GS ain't no magic bullet. - Comment on osama bin laden (2008-07-16 10:49:52)

No butt stocks on those weapons. No wonder they can't hit anything with 'em. - Comment on Think - Every atom in your body was once part of a star (2008-07-11 15:06:44)
Came here to make the comment Reboot made. Although technically, even the hydrogen MIGHT have been part of a star. - Comment on stratofortress over golden gate bridge (2008-07-03 14:58:40)
@gor I'll take an ME-262 over the P-38 any day of the week, and I really like the P-38. But, as Yeager said, "If the ME-262 knew you were there, you weren't going to shoot it down. They would toy with us, let us get close, and then go full throttle and zoom away out of range, giving us the bird. And I couldn't blame them. If I was in a 262, I would have done the same thing." I'll take Yeager's word on it. - Comment on darWIN (2008-07-03 14:46:58)

That's because clothing on hot women is evil. So how can you fight evil when draped in it? - Comment on The Minutemen. Oh Yes! (2008-05-28 09:19:30)
What do you wanna bet that some idiots out there will call Hooded Justice a racist symbol, what with the oh-so-obvious black face and noose? - Comment on Clipboard horror (2008-05-25 18:03:34)
Well, it depends. If she doesn't immediately say something, you send the following: "You don't really look at what I send you, which is why you missed it when I said, 'YOU!' I created a folder named 'shemale' to test and see if you actually pay attention when I say or send you something, and you missed it! I am disappointed and hurt." - Comment on Ron Paul (2008-05-24 23:32:52)
Except for his views on religion, his ill-informed obsession with commodities-backed currency, and his warped understanding of international relations, he's pretty good. - Comment on Most Powerful Nerf Gun Ever (2008-05-18 17:31:25)
The most powerful nerf-like weapon is a rocket-launcher whose projectile is about 5" across and 12" long. It's the only foam weapon I am aware of that actually DOES have a recoil. I wish I could remember its name. You had to crank it 10 times using a short lever akin to old daisy air-rifles. The spring in it is made of something like 8-gauge steel.
