So, you prevent the trauma and possible disease transmission of a rape by... causing the rapist to bleed profusely into your vagina?

That full strip was just freaking hilarious. - Comment on Stephen Colbert - American Soldier (2008-05-19 15:06:41)
How is he not just a one-trick Pony? Yeah, we get it, Colbert. O'Reilly's a dick. Do we really need an entire television series devoted to hammering that parody into the ground night after night? - Comment on Barbarella Movie Poster (2008-05-19 09:18:54)
Cut from the final portion of the movie is where she travels to the evil aliens' home planet, sits in one of their anti-spacecraft guns while pretending to shoot down Terran gunships, and spits on the corpses of captured Earthling space troopers while currying favor with the aliens for political credit among her fellow anti-Terran Earther self-hating lobotomites... Oh, sorry, that wasn't in the movie at all, was it? - Comment on African American Robert Downy Jr (2008-05-19 07:00:57)
You have to hand it to Downey. It's like he knew Iron Man was going to be a huge hit that would revitalize his flagging career, so he made sure to do a Soul Man action movie that will probably be incomprehensibly bad. Either the offensive nature of a white man playing a black man (you can't get away with that anymore) or the fact that the movie sucks will hammer his poor agent back into submission until the Iron Man sequel comes out. - Comment on Future of flying/driving? Let's hope not. Already I have to deal with assholes who can barely drive and are constantly trying to kill me on the highway, if only through their colossal stupidity. I'd hate to think those same people might also be able to take to the skies. - Comment on Hawkmen of Flash Gordon (2008-05-16 08:22:59)
1980's Flash Gordon with Sam Jones is a monstrously good movie if you like cheese factor. I was totally obsessed with the movie as a kid. The new SciFi channel series of the same name, which I hope has been cancelled, was unwatchable. - Comment on The Omega Man Movie Poster (2008-05-16 07:47:36)
The original book, by Richard Matheson, is about a scientist who becomes legendary among the new vampire-like sort-of-but-not zombie people who end up taking over the Earth. The point is that as he struggles to combat these "monsters," it is HE who becomes the monster in the minds of this new population of the planet. Thus he becomes this tragic and ironic figure. It's an excellent book, and the black and white Vincent Price movie is an excellent adaptation of it. Heston's reincarnation of the role in Omega Man is also very good, and puts a new spin on the book and the Price movie without losing the spirit of it. (Heston also runs around with a submachinegun with a giant flashlight mounted on it, way before gun-mounted tactical lights were cool among the popular kids.)
