read...translate into something that can be used...same thing. But yeah, there's old pong clones and text based adventures that are currently hidden behind a language & technology barrier. Another one I can think of that is only true if you have a working antivirus. Any game by Monkeybrainz Software (game company from the 80's that has practically no trace on the internet nowadays). They might actually contain viral code...each game was a really cheap knockoff of another popular game...they were kind of the KING (guys that made Candy Crush) of that time...no big loss...but still.

There is the bonus feature of 99.999% backwards compatibility (we have lost the ability to convert some old rare few file formats to something readable by modern machines...) be it through emulation or whatnot.

the device actively checking for a heartbeat keeps the fail-state enabled...same as a button being held down...or a piece of software that polls for input every few hours. They are all dead-man's switches. Ones that fail on release are sometimes called "Live-man" or "Vigilance"...like the grip-lever on a train that rings an alarm and cuts down the speed unless the engineer holds it.

Everyone got 3 episodes dedicated to them dealing with their pasts (well...Ein only got 1...). It didn't necessarily make them better people...but it did help explain their present actions. They all were looking for escape, and ended up making a dysfunctional little family. Or maybe I'm mixing in the comics...everything kinda bleeds together after a while...
