Worse than that. Most children can feel, can emphasize with others, but is difficult because what they *want* is in conflict with hurting others. This is a blatant absence of empathy... "I can't understand it / comprehend it", therefore it's deeply discounted, or doesn't exist. This is an admission of a sociopath, if even a mild sociopath. Also then followed up by the the "men that serve" Heinlein trope, the "fuck you, I got mine" libertarianism / Ayn Randism.
