28 yr. old Geek. Most of my time not at work or school is spent trolling teh intarwebs. I likes the videogames. Lately I'm playing Animal Crossing: Wild World on my DS because it's an easy way to waste my time when I'm not at a computer.

220V circuit plug can only put up with twice as much of your electrical bullshit as normal. Anything more and he is aghast like this.

  • Comment on what the tea party protesters are really trying to say (2010-07-10 13:27:35)
Well, the american demographic seems to break down generally into six groups: poor black people poor hispanic people poor asian people poor native american people poor white people and rich white people The tea partiers are poor white people who see the democrats accusing the other rich white people of taking advantage of the minorities, and then taxing the rich white people to give handouts to all the poor people except the poor white people, because they "are not as at-risk" due to reverse-racism. The rich white people have more or less put it in plain english that poor white people have a much better chance of becoming rich white people than the rest of the minorities have of becoming rich themselves. The conservatives have now tried to garner the poor white people's support by effectively saying, "Hey! We're part of the same group, you're white just like we are! If those liberals get their way and go back to taxing us rich white people, then you're the next group they'll tax once we have no money left!"
  • Comment on top ten signs you're a fundamentalist christian (2010-07-08 00:45:44)
Okay? So you've made an if/then causal statement. And then what? Why should anyone believe that you are right? It's the because part that you are missing, you know that little bit where you put your supporting evidence when making a declaration about something. Here's an example: If you see a list pointing out some inconsistencies in the christian belief system as understood by non-believers and your first inclination is to attempt to deride the validity of the points made on the list by calling the people who made the list or agree with it doody-heads then you are likely to be a christian who is insecure with your belief BECAUSE christians who are insecure with their beliefs seem to be the ones who lash out the most vocally against any negative implications against it. You see? Now if someone disagrees with my conclusion, they can argue against my supporting evidence, instead of just making a contrary declaration, which is all anyone can do with your shitty argument.

Are you talking about windows macros? Like Alt+0248 for ø? Those have never worked in HTML.

What's so "shallow and pointless" about mathematics? without math, there would be NONE of the derivative sciences indicated here: no physics - which explains the physical interactions of objects from galaxies down to quarks and neutrinos no chemistry - which explains the chemical interactions of atoms and molecules no biology - which explains how living organisms function and interact with one another no psychology - which attempts to explain how the human brain is affected chemically by interpretations of events in the outside environment no sociology - which attempts to explain how a large groups of brains (inside humans) develop rules and behaviors that allow for the greatest benefit to the group as a whole I've taken classes in all of these subjects, and they're all dependent on mathematics, they just get more dependent on mathematics as you go up this "purity" spectrum. I mean, there are even more things that just wouldn't be without math; there would be no engineering, because engineering is all about designing things to precision so they will operate the way you want them to. You can't be precise without math. There would be no western music. The 12-tone major scale is mathematical: octaves are logarithmic, A below middle C is 440 Hz, A above middle C is 880 Hz. We would have absolutely no understanding of wave motion; no sound, no light, no fluid dynamics. Hell, we wouldn't even know about electromagnetics or that light is just part of a spectrum of electromagnetic radiation that includes radio waves, micro waves, and x-rays. Without math, there is no science. How dare you say it is "shallow and pointless".

I think you're missing the point of the Infinite monkey theorem. The Infinite Monkey Theorem states that given an infinite number of monkeys each sitting at a typewriter, and given an infinite amount of time, eventually the monkeys will write out the complete works of Shakespeare. The point is that random chance does cause things to happen... eventually. This is used to support the argument that eventually order will form out of chaos when there are biological organisms involved. So, eventually evolution will happen. There is no set description of how or why evolution will happen, or even what it will create. That's why it's a theory. But, we do know that it will happen eventually.

  • Comment on How does this perry ellis shirt look? (2010-04-07 08:59:53)
Maybe because it hangs down vertically from your shoulders on all sides? A fitted shirt would pull in below your chest and follow the contour of your back more. This one just drapes.

only because the companies that develop, manufacture, & distribute your drugs are in it for the profit, and not for keeping your ass alive. Don't blame the government because the private company you depend on cares more for your dollars than your life.
