repost from 12OCT2011? http://www.myconfinedspace.com/2011/10/12/vehicle-mount/ I still think the same, this is a silly way to transport a weapon, too many people think "car carry" is a valid means of self-defense. Carry on your person or run the carjacker over, this in-between nonsense is just stupid.

that weapon is perfectly safe without a manual safety lever but vehicle mounts are stupid, a weapon belongs on your person, your vehicle is a superior weapon for most foreseeable situations. if you "car carry" you're transporting, not carrying ... get a damn holster and actually carry.
  • Comment on Alligator Cop (2011-10-06 11:03:02)
Lame. Most cops would miss at that distance, probably flattening the car's tires with road shrapnel and possibly getting some hot lead spatter back in their un-goggled face

Some prop guns often fire a blank and substitute a small charge of flamable oil for the projectile, causing a muzzle flash easy to capture on film. It is even worse in person, from what I've read, and is why most actors have a horrendous flinch when shooting, they're used to a big flame blossom every trigger pull. Another type of prop gun runs on propane, making a similar flash and a nice "THUD", but a lot of directors are going to realistic Airsoft replicas and adding flashes/brass/etc in post entirely. None of these options lead to realistic movie/TV guns.

  • Comment on FPS Level Design - Past & Present (2011-06-24 14:53:36)
I don't think the maps for Descent 1-3 could even be expressed in two dimensions ... backtracking in those was rare and generally entertaining because 'bots would spawn or you'd be backtracking as a speed run to escape. I do get annoyed by the "only one way to go" simplicity of some FPS games, but the HL series makes up for it with storytelling and gameplay, Portal makes you figure out everything for yourself ... both of those series are good enough that you get immersed, Doom-era shooters were fun, but did they make you pucker when you got too close to a ledge? Did they make you shout at the screen or jump at a surprise? Storytelling sells games just as much as huge explorable worlds, and it seems that the big-world games and the narrative games have gone separate ways.

bullets are gone, maybe if you were capable of handling a real firearm you'd know the difference between a fired case and the projectile that goes out the front.

"Barreta" ... what, you can't be bothered to go on wikipedia and figure out what company makes bigass .50BMG rifles and which makes the general-issue .mil pistol?
  • Comment on leggy sniper (2011-05-26 10:25:04)
You know, the pic is cute ... but not every stocked firearm with an optic is a "sniper rifle" and even an even smaller subset of people holding such a tool are "snipers" W.T.F. makes every tard who sees a rifle assume it is a "sniper rifle"?

han solo was sporting an antique Mauser C96 (the "96" means "design of 1896", not exactly a "futuristic design") The Rhino is out in various configurations: http://chiappafirearms.com/products/75 It is a bottom-firing design for better recoil control (lower bore axis) and the flat cylinder is theoretically better for concealment and retention. If I was a wheelgun guy I'd be tempted to pick one up ... hell, I'm tempted to pick one up now and to get a matching levergun ... maybe if I ever get reloading room I'll break into .357mag.

That's a nice scoot! I was leaning towards the Vulcan line, but both MrsBFD and I found Hondas that were setup just the way we wanted as baggers with floorboards and windshields. There's a really spiffy matte black Vulcan at the local toystore that keeps calling to me whenever I go by, if I had room for a "just in town" bike I'd buy it ... but for now we have too many vehicles.
