Can't tell if trolling... There's a difference between a logical label and a first impressions label. The latter type seeks to eliminate as many people as possible that are not the person you're referring to. You ever noticed that when the person in question is black, they start with "the black guy who..." but when they're white it jumps to the next layer of features with "the guy with the mustache who..." without mention of race? Same shit here. If your friend said, "I like their outfit." and you asked, "Whose?" then chances are that they could answer with each label there and you'd know exactly who. Like you know Tonks' Game of Thrones name better than her Harry Potter name... I don't even remember her Game of Thrones name and I IMDB'd that actress like two days ago.

This shit serious? I may like to think of myself as rather moderate, but I get pegged as a liberal constantly ... and even I think this is just stupid. "I speak my mind" is just something people who have no tact or social skills say to justify why people don't like them without having to admit they're often, however unintentionally, abrasive and rude. If you lack tact, and come off shitty, you get called slurs. Slurs aren't exactly known for establishing logical and tangible connections between a word and the person it's used as a label for in the first place. FRINGE could have left a greater legacy with better Season 2-3 writing choices. There was so much that could have been done with The Pattern and the rift without going full-blown alternate universe with it. I feel like FRINGE had a higher potential than the X-Files did, but when you compare how much of that potential was lived up to, TXF comes out ahead for content. That said, Walter Bishop is by far one of my favorite fictional characters in the history of ever. Ever.

I felt the same way. As an independent, I really thought this was going to be the year to let my inner Republican shine... Not to say I think Obama's done a bad job, I think he played the hand he was dealt rather well, but, as you say, I figured that if Congress won't respect him enough to work together, the alternatives are worth a look... And then the Republican Primaries happened. They had the chance to give me someone worth my time, someone with ideas that'd WORK, with reasonable alternatives; that was a president, not the political equivalent of a used car salesman or a joyriding elitist with his new toy statesman seat... and holy shit did they blow it. Let's make this a metaphor: My internet service provider is Obamanet, and their speeds are much slower than they promised. Basically, Romcast just called me up and said, "We're going to get you lightning fast broadband... by plugging this usb ... into this banana."

Cash for Clunkers also wasn't supposed to be a profitable venture. When people are terrified of the economy collapsing, they hoard all liquid resources and thus stagnate the economy; when this happens during a recession, it tumbles into depression. The program was meant to get people moving liquid wealth around and feel comfortable doing so - it didn't make money; it lost money ... but it saved a whole lot more of it. It's one of the most misunderstood efforts of our time.
