The chart seems to follow the value of the dollar (itself, not compared to other currencies) and US price index up until 2000, as far as I can tell. After that, though, I can't really express what it would be expected to look like compared to what it does - but you can see the visible change in shape (where it goes from, "That looks like normal graph-ey-ness." to "That looks like whatever this graph measures just went apeshit.") pretty clearly. Unfortunately, we can never look at these graphs and talk about the actual problem - instead we just argue about who is to blame for it, or if we're ignorant about the nuances, whether it was "Bush's fault" or "Obama's fault."

It gives me hope when people say things like that. Sometimes I feel like I'm being told that trying to understand where your enemy comes from is Un-American, as if understanding is somehow equal to assent. In the beginning, understanding the enemy's motivation leads to higher quality diplomacy - we can learn to fix their legitimate criticisms of us, and learn to aggressively defend and denounce the illegitimate ones. But if that fails, when you understand your enemy, it's far easier to destroy them.

Isn't that an automatic reaction to pain and/or fear - the triggering of fight or flight? In this case, evacuation of bodily waste for faster running capability? P.S. -- Come on, man. A pop up for clicking next page, a pop up for clicking on an image, a pop up for clicking comments, and a pop up when I clicked the text box to leave a comment? How the fuck are these things even evading my pop up blocker? I'm taking a M[C]S break until I can sort this out.

Tiki's new pop-ups somehow bypass my blocker and appear BEHIND the other windows. And there's also video ads on everything now so I have to mute before I even come here. Aaaand the T-shirt adds keep popping up in clusters of three of the same ad. I think Tiki's run out of fundage...

Have you seen that they're currently re-doing the project in a different form? In the end, it'll be four full-length movies. The last one should be coming out in 2013/2014 - I'm waiting for the box set. "REbuild of Evangelion"

It's worth a go if you enjoy anime as an artform. It starts simply and plays out straight forward, and then suddenly descends into a depth of symbolism and philosophy so deep it required a separate full-length movie to explain it better. Personally, I like the penguin. [scrolls up, scrolls down] Among other things.
