Goddamn, son. God. Damn. - Comment on Dead Space 2 (2011-02-17 03:33:51)
The worst part is when you know it's coming, like when you walk into a room, and you see a door, and you're like, "That door is so innocuous that something nasty HAS to burst out of it". So you run up to the door and start fucking around trying to get the thing to pop out and go "Boo!" so that at least one fucking time you can just go "Haha! Scarefail!" But of course the thing doesn't burst out of the door, because the trigger for the event is on the other side of the fucking room, where you should be, but aren't because you're so fucking clever that you're not going to be had this time! Then eventually you give up, figuring sometimes a door is just a door, wander on off, trip the trigger and "BAM! RAWWWWWRGHHH!" "AH JESUS SCUTTERING FUCK WHAT THE SON OF A ALT-F4 ALT-F4 ALT F-4 GODDAMMNNNN!" Hate that shit. - Comment on Painted GTX 260 side plate - phase 1 - testing (2011-02-15 04:25:46)
I'm starting to wonder if casemods is a secret NZXT sales rep. If he is, I'd like to request they (and the rest of the industry) stop putting doors and windows on their fucking cases. I got an Antec 300 a while back, and it's the most goddamn gorgeous case I've seen in years. No fucking door, no fucking windows, a few two many grills, but it's got the power & usb ports on the fucking top, which makes up for a lot. - Comment on American Eagle (2011-02-11 16:51:06)
How the crap did this get here? I posted it after looking at the stuff that's above it. And it's still in a queue awaiting moderation, apparently. I are confused. - Comment on Subway Crash (2011-02-08 00:12:23)
The fact that it's staged/a painting means his expression makes even less sense. If you had complete control of the scene, why would you say, "OK, now the most surprising thing in this whole scenario is whatever is on your miraculously untouched laptop. Go!" Damn painters and their having better drugs than me... - Comment on X-Wing on Patrol (2011-02-08 00:09:58)
I was unsure since it's rather small, it's kinda hard to tell if it's just got a single wing or if the dual wings are just in the closed position. Also my nerd-fu is not advanced enough for me to know whether or not all X-wings have astromech droids, thus compounding my confusion. - Comment on Rocket Ship to the Moon! (2011-02-04 23:50:27)
Well, now I know what's going to be stuck in my head for the next few hours. Coulda been worse, I guess. - Comment on Floating Isle (2011-02-04 23:48:23)
And I'm generally underwhelmed by yours. To each their own, hmm? Although in fairness, if I'd known the pastel-colored wallpapers were going to all show up at the same time, I probably would have eased off a bit. - Comment on The Second Coming (2011-02-04 01:44:37)
Nice. - Comment on Kisses for everyone in Egypt (2011-02-03 06:00:00)
The top guy looks like he's thinking, "Great, I've got some old lady slobbering all over my cheek. The lads in the barracks are never going to let me live this down." While the fellow on the bottom seems to be thinking, "You have no cause to complain, my friend. No cause." - Comment on critical post shortage (2011-01-30 00:25:34)
Random pictures are awesome. So awesome that they inspired me to submit 50-odd pictures I found on an old backup drive. There's probably another 50 submission-worthy pics in there, but I am sick as a motherfucker and need to go pass out for a while. - Comment on Ethics. (2011-01-29 22:19:15)
Generally speaking, ethics tend to refer to a societies system of belief, whereas morals refer to ones personal beliefs about right & wrong. Society tells us that stealing is wrong, regardless of our personal opinions about the victim (otherwise politicians in general would be robbed on a daily basis). Dragyn's personal morals, on the other hand, say that in particular cases, it's ok to steal from someone just to fuck up their day. Whoever wrote the question in that book clearly screwed up on their definitions, since there is no ethical dilemma, though there is perhaps a moral one. Ethics vs. morality aside, the question is still poorly worded, since it is ambiguous as to whether or not we have advanced knowledge of what Hitler will do in the years to come. If we do know, the question boils down to "Is it ethical/moral to do bad things to bad people?". If we don't know, it boils down to "Is it ethical/moral to do bad things to some guy?". - Comment on Straddle Bus (2011-01-21 23:35:35)
It's kind of a cool idea in theory, but I'm imagining countless car accidents caused when one of those passes over head and all the drivers below go "gahcockshitfuckwhatthefucksthat!" and wind up broadsiding the car beside them. It might be OK if there were little signs along the bus' route that let people know about how long it would be before a bus sails over head. Kind of a "Prepare to shit yourself in 3... 2... 1..." thing. - Comment on zombie riverboat full (2011-01-11 02:30:36)
I think the bigger issue is relying on zombies for fuel & fertilizer. This would seem to necessitate collecting zombies, thus creating a gigantic fucking hole in the whole "stay the hell away from zombies" plan. Not to mention having your ammunition storage at the very back of the boat-train when your main line of defense seems to be the .50 cals at the front seems like a pretty major oversight. Run out of ammo fending off a starving horde of zombies swarming from the shore? No problem! Just run across three fucking barges and hope the zombies are considerate enough to wait. If this is the sort of shit we're relying on to outsmart zombies, we are so fucked. - Comment on Is 55" too big for a monitor? (2011-01-02 19:21:41)
I'd be less concerned about eye strain or headaches or blah blah than I would about being able to see the whole screen. If you're not getting sniped by some guy in the top right corner where you never even saw him, then it's all good. The screenshots don't really help, since they're basically showing what your card is sending your monitor, not what your monitor is actually displaying. Shots of the screen would be more useful. But more importantly, how are you playing without armrests? You've got a mighty fancy chair, sure, but I just can't conceive of how sitting in front of a computer with no armrests for any period of time could be comfortable.
