Mutation of one of the genes involved in the melanin production causes albinism. Symptoms include whitish skin color, sensitive eyes, sensitivity to light, and white colored hair. There is no cure for albinism, but eye conditions are treatable. In addition, treatment can protect the skin from other damages such as sunburn.
