I feel like there’s a better way to carry a surf board.
You’re not wrong! The original design for the VW Beach Bomb had two surf boards sticking out the rear window, but those vans couldn’t do the loop or take the turns and jumps. So, they added mass to the bottom by adding the sides like that and they then managed to make the loop, etc. There is a pink VW Beach Bomb prototype that is the holy grail of Hot Wheels. Its estimated worth is in the $150K neighborhood.
