“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” Review

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts: Directed by Steven Caple Jr.. With Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez, Dean Scott Vazquez. During the ’90s, a new faction of Transformers – the Maximals – join the Autobots as allies in the battle for Earth.

I can’t exactly remember why I rewatched this, other than it’s a popcorn movie that I could just turn my brain off and not worry about stressing myself about complicated plots, at least sorta, the time travel stuff is complicated enough for this type of movie. I’m more interested in what they’re doing in the final 5 minutes of the film and as of yet I haven’t heard of any additional movies to fill in the details of what the “Real American Hero” sting is actually going to bring us.

If the comics are any indication though, it’s going to be all good stuff. There’s been a recent reboot of both the Transformers and GI Joe comics by new creatives and the 5 or 6 months worth of content we’ve gotten so far has been top notch.

    “Echo” Review

Echo: With Alaqua Cox, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Graham Greene. Maya Lopez must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.

The latest and greatest from the MCU, this time it’s the sorta villain from the “Hawkeye” show that gets to launch the new “Marvel Spotlight” sub brand from MCU content and only time will tell what that branding actually means. The first series is a good one with just 5 episodes with a total run time of about 4 hours, which is fantastic to see. Going all the way back to the Netflix days the seasons of the various MCU shows have meandered for about half the season with unfulfilling fluff filling out the contracted time.

My one complaint is that the completely unrelated “What If” series that just wrapped up over Christmas also featured a Native American superhero with blue powers from her ancestors. I’m happy to see more new faces in the MCU, but the possible connections between the two situations was in the back of my head the entire series. No spoilers, but you can safely assume they are not related at all and it’s just a happy coincidence that they look and feel similar.
