On a distant Earth colony, an orphaned survivor of an alien invasion discovers that the greatest world-ending dangers aren’t behind her. It’s been eight years s

Set in the same universe as the “Frontlines” series, Kloos has wisely wrapped up the storylines from that first set of books and continued on with a new character that’s a survivor of the Lanky invasion and is holed up in an underground bunker on a far away planet with little to no hope for rescue or help from Earth. As like Kloos’s other books, this is so exceptionally good that I managed to read it all in just a single sitting, then went back through and reread a few parts to relish in the deliciousness of the story and setting. It felt like an eternity ago that I preordered this back in 2023, so I had completely forgotten about it until it popped up on my kindle on January 1st, 2024. I was in the middle of two other books at the time, so it had to wait a bit, but it was well worth both of the waits!

Level 249: Lifeformed, Janice Kwan (Tunic)

I loved talking with Terence and Janice so much about their wonderful music for such a fabulous game. The music for Tunic is a glorious blend of synths and acoustic piano, with waves of (often) consonant sound. Plus, you get to play as an adorable fox!

Terence and Janice live in Taiwan so I got to learn a bit about that tropical island too, and got to meet some cats which always brings a smile! You get to see them in the YouTube video…

    “Star Trek Continues” Review

Star Trek Continues: With Vic Mignogna, Todd Haberkorn, Christopher Doohan, Grant Imahara. The further adventures of the crew of the USS Enterprise.

It only took me a couple years, but I finally made it through all 11 episodes of this, the best fan fiction in Star Trek that I’ve ever seen. There’s some surprisingly good science fiction here with plots that range from silly adventures to poignant stories of the human condition.. They’re all for free on youtube, so if you’re a Trek fan and want more TOS in your life, this is the best place to hit that sweet hit of pinging science stations and warp plasma.

    Making It So

The long-awaited memoir from iconic, beloved actor and living legend Sir Patrick Stewart!

At just over 450 pages, I thought this was going to be a slog to get through, but Stewart’s writing style is snappy enough that even his descriptions of his childhood home’s lack of a toilet was interesting enough that I was able to finish this in just a couple reading sessions. Surprising to me however was both how open he was about his marital mistakes and how little he talked about his time making Trek and the various movies that he did afterwards like the X-Men franchise or the smaller roles he had like “Green Room”. He didn’t even start talking about Trek until the halfway point in the book! I’m sure he could write another two or three books about those experiences, but in the sum of his life, Trek is just one small part of what he’s proud of and that his stage acting is where his pride really lies.

This is a good book and if you’re as into Trek as much as I am, it’s a great look into the mind of the of the finest actors on the series. I think he’s the first of the TNG cast to write a book about his life, but hopefully he won’t be the last.
