The cast continues to be revealed over at CBS All Access as production continues to finally roll along on Star Trek: Discovery. Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy and Sam Vartholomeos.

CBS announced that Serpico will play Admiral Anderson as part of Starfleet’s top brass. That would be a far cry from the actor’s first roll as a strip club owner on Donnie Brasco. His other roles include Purge: Election Year and The Inspectors.

The other two will be assigned directly to the series’ home ship, the Starship Shenzhou. Pancholy will be hanging out in the sickbay as the ship’s chief medical officer, Dr. Nambue. Pancholy is best known for his roles on 30 Rock and Weeds.

Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series review

81GUr8iIOoL. SL1500 733x1024 Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Epic Series

In the deepest reaches of space, the fight to save all human life from extinction has begun in this science-fiction adventure that launched the Battlestar Galactica phenomenon, now presented digitally remastered, complete, and uncut! Hopeful for lasting peace following centuries of intense warfare, the Twelve Colonies gather to sign a treaty with their dreaded enemies, the Cylons. But after an act of treachery on the eve of the ceremony, the Cylons launch a devastating surprise attack, destroying the Colonies’ home planets and most of their military strength. A lone flagship battlestar, the Galactica, remains to aid the surviving colonists on their epic journey for a new home to a far-off legendary planet—Earth. They must survive the pursuing Cylons in a series of epic battles that will determine the fate of the human race in this action-packed classic.

Only 24 episodes but it took me nearly 3 months to get through them all. Not because they’re horrible, but I was trying to watch this while laying on the couch and I frequently fell asleep during episodes. Some of these I slept through about 5 times! Now that I’ve finished the original series I have a greater appreciation for the rebooted series from Syfy, not to say that this version should be avoided, but some of the choices in the newer series make a lot more sense in context of the original series (I’m looking at you dead/alive/dead again/angel Starbuck). Now that I’ve seen this though, I think it’ll be the last time I watch the original series. Definitely not the last time I re-watch the rebooted series though, god damn that was a fun show to binge watch.

Star Trek Discovery Casting: James Frain & Series Delayed Yet Again!

james frain Star Trek Discovery Casting: James Frain & Series Delayed Yet Again!

EW has learned of two major developments on the CBS All-Access series: The first is that the series will include Spock’s father Sarek as a key character. This is the first character who has appeared previously in the Trek franchise to get on board the new series. Not only that, but our Federation sources have revealed who will be playing Sarek: Actor James Frain, who most recently played mayor Theo Galavan (a.k.a. Azrael) on Fox’s Gotham. Frain has also had arcs on BBC America’s Orphan Black, HBO’s True Blood and NBC’s Grimm.

Discovery will start filming in Toronto next week. However — and this is the other significant development — the series is no longer going to premiere in May as previously announced. This is the second time the show’s debut date has changed. But while certain creative and production issues were a factor when Discovery was originally pushed from February to May, we’re hearing lately the drama is on track under new showrunners Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story review

rogue one 691x1024 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

From Lucasfilm comes an epic adventure – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction.

I’ve seen this movie twice, both in IMAX theaters (one baby imax and one Official IMAX) and boy howdy is this movie a blast to watch. There’s a few moments that scream out “hey guys, this is a Star Wars movie, remember this other guy from that other Star Wars movie? Here he is in this movie! Look, he’s right here! See him? Right There!”, but luckily it’s only a few moments, the rest of the movie is pure new content with a delightfully dark story that builds to a third act unlike any other that we’ve seen in a Star Wars film and delivers the best 60 final seconds I’ve seen in a film.

If you can watch this in theaters, I highly suggest it, I thoroughly enjoyed the experiences.

    Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is an indie farming simulation role-playing video game developed by ConcernedApe and published by Chucklefish Games. The game was released for Microsoft Windows in February 2016, with ports for OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One released later that year. A port for Nintendo Switch is also in development. In Stardew Valley, the player takes the role of a character that, to get away from the hustle of an office job, takes over their grandfather’s dilapidated farm in a place known as Stardew Valley. The player manages their character’s time and energy levels as they clear land, plant and tend crops, raise livestock, craft goods, mine for ores, and engage in social activities, including romances leading towards marriage, with the various residents of the small town, all while earning in-game money to expand their farm. The game is open-ended, allowing the player to take on activities as they see fit.

Stardew Valley was heavily inspired by the Harvest Moon video game series, with additions by Stardew Valleys sole creator, Eric Barone, to address some of the shortcomings of these games while using the opportunity as an exercise to improve his own programming and game design skills. Barone developed the title on his own over four years and interacted frequently with players who were interested in the title to get feedback. Chucklefish Games approached Barone with the offer to publish the title mid-way through development, allowing Barone to focus more on completing the game.

Stardew Valley received positive reception from critics upon release, and was one of the highest-selling titles on Steam in the first few months of its release, eventually selling over one million copies. Barone plans to expand the game to include co-operative play and support for other platforms, among other features.
