How Star Trek DS9 Paved The Way For Ron Moores Battlestar Galactica

I’m a fan of both franchises and a huge fan of Ron Moore’s work, I fully expect to enjoy this book when it comes out.

Watching this in 2018, man what a corny flick with jarring CGI. It came out only a couple years after TRON and it really shows that while they were striving for something good, computer generated images simply weren’t ready to replace miniatures or practical effects. I applaud the effort though and because this movie is amazingly nostalgic for me (I don’t know why, I was two when it originally came out), so I can overlook any visual shortcomings it may have. The practical effects were actually pretty cool, I remember being freaked out by the Beta robot when it was growing it’s face, and Robert Preston stole every scene he was in.

Star Trek The Next Generation DVD Complete Set for only 35 from Facebook Marketplace
Tags:Awesome Things, Star Trek, Television, Television Reviews
Several months ago I was the proud recipient of the entire TNG series on VHS tape, then I found this online for only $35, and now I’m currently watching some of the special features on the DVDs, as I still haven’t worked up the nerve to watch the VHS tapes.
I think I’m going to keep an eye open for the different types of media Trek has been on, it seems they’re going pretty cheap now. I think back in the day I would have spent $100+ per season, and even today this set is going for $75, so I got a great deal here. I still feel it’s a great deal even if all I do is watch the special features, then put them on a shelf for the rest of my life, lol.

Star Trek: Destiny #1: Gods of Night
Star Trek: Destiny #2: Mere Mortals
Star Trek: Destiny #3: Lost Souls
Half a decade after the Dominion War and more than a year after the rise and fall of Praetor Shinzon, the galaxy’s greatest scourge, the Borg, returns to wreak havoc upon the Federation—and this time, its goal is nothing less than total annihilation.
Elsewhere, deep in the Gamma Quadrant, an ancient mystery is solved. One of Earth’s first generation of starships, lost for centuries, has been found dead and empty on a desolate planet. But its discovery so far from home has raised disturbing questions, and the answers harken back to a struggle for survival that once tested a captain and her crew to the limits of their humanity.
From that terrifying flashpoint begins an apocalyptic odyssey that will reach across time and space to reveal the past, define the future, and show three captains that some destinies are inescapable. For Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise, defending the future has never been so important, or so personal—and the wrong choice will cost him everything for which he has struggled and suffered. For Captain William Riker of the U.S.S. Titan, that choice has already been made—haunted by the memories of those he was forced to leave behind, he must jeopardize all that he has left in a desperate bid to save the Federation. And for Captain Ezri Dax of the U.S.S. Aventine, whose impetuous youth is balanced by the wisdom of many lifetimes, the choice is a simple one: there is no going back—only forward to whatever future awaits them. . . .

No 4k, so all you’re getting is last generation definition with no HDR. Considering how dark and muddy the series was, I was really looking forward to seeing how it looked in 4k/hdr but alas, CBS has not opted for current generation technology.
Additionally it appears there is no digital version of the series to be included, which is a real shame.

StarTrekcom feature on Harlan Ellison
Star Trek.com has a nice memorial write up on recently passed Harlan Ellison:
StarTrek.com is saddened to report the passing of Sci-Fi and Star Trek legend Harlan Ellison. Ellison, who turned 84 just last month, died this morning, June 28, at his home in California, according to his wife, Susan. Ellison wrote countless books, novellas, short stories, scripts, think pieces and more, and he won every imaginable genre writing prize, including multiple Bram Stoker Awards, Hugo Awards, and Writers Guild of America Awards. His most-significant Star Trek contribution was, of course, his teleplay for the TOS episode, “The City on the Edge of Forever.”

MARVEL’S CLOAK & DAGGER Renewed for a Second Season – STARBURST Magazine
Tags:Cloak and Dagger, Comic Books, Television, Wallpaper
the first season has been pretty solid, though it suffers from he same problems every other Marvel tv series has with trying to fit into a larger universe that doesn’t care about it and exploring these new characters too slowly with pacing issues. I’d still suggest it, but just know it’s Marvel TV for better or worse.
