This is a great prequel story for Deep Space Nine that largely avoids the prequel tropes that make my eyes roll, mostly by having the TNG crew be the ones interacting with known DS9 elements like Gul Dukat, Kira, or Odo. The main story is wrapped about at about the 90% mark and there’s an entire new storyline about bombings and making decisions about the future that felt out of place and didn’t seem to jive with the rest of the story that was about the semi-forced withdrawal of the Cardassians from Bajor.
