I’m excited to see how they do this, the series of books got really bonkers in the last couple.

Disenchantment

Princess duties call, but she’d rather be drinking. Free-spirited Bean exasperates the king as she wreaks havoc with her demon and elf pals.

It appears that most of the reviews for Disenchantment have been middling to negative, but frankly, I’m not seeing any valid complaints. It has the same style of humor as both Simpsons and Futurama, the same type of delivery and the same type of voice overs, with many of the same voice over actors, for better or worse. If you’re a fan of a completely different show, Broad City, which is fantastic in it’s own right, you’ll recognize the main character’s voice, and if you’ve ever watched Futurama, you’ll recognize her father’s voice.

It’s a good show that doesn’t require a ton of mental calculations to figure out, I’d suggest checking out the first few episodes to give it a try.

I tried to make my wife watch this, but alas, she did not care for the 30 minutes of it she watched. I still found it hilarious and reminds me of when I was working as a sandwich artist.

They unfortunately won’t be returning for a second season.

Neither show interested me, Wolf was shock for shock’s value and she wasn’t even good at it. McHale was just talk soup but on Netflix, I didn’t really care for it back when it was on cable TV, and I didn’t care for it on Netflix.

The problem isn’t with the content though, I know that there’s an audience for both types of shows and both types of humor work pretty well. The problem is Netflix’s interface is complete trash for shows that have new content coming out on a regular basis. There’s no episode queue to show you unwatched episodes. It’s barely usable for shows like Voltron or even the Marvel comic series, which I honestly don’t know that i’d be able to keep up with if they weren’t marketing the shit out of them before the new seasons air.

It’s hard to binge a series if you don’t even know it’s on.

Star Trek The Next Generation DVD Complete Set for only 35 from Facebook Marketplace

Several months ago I was the proud recipient of the entire TNG series on VHS tape, then I found this online for only $35, and now I’m currently watching some of the special features on the DVDs, as I still haven’t worked up the nerve to watch the VHS tapes.

I think I’m going to keep an eye open for the different types of media Trek has been on, it seems they’re going pretty cheap now.  I think back in the day I would have spent $100+ per season, and even today this set is going for $75, so I got a great deal here.  I still feel it’s a great deal even if all I do is watch the special features, then put them on a shelf for the rest of my life, lol.

Spiderman 2.1

Spider-Man 2.1 features eight minutes of new footage incorporated into the movie, including a longer, less-adversarial conversation between Harry and Peter at the birthday party, more from comedian Hal Sparks in the elevator scene, more fighting with Doc Ock, and a goofy appearance by J. Jonah Jameson in the Spider-Man costume. While the new scenes are interesting to watch and add some laughs, they don’t justify a second purchase of the movie. The bonus features are new but underwhelming. The commentary track by producer Laura Ziskin and screenwriter Alvin Sargent (there were two different commentaries on the original two-disc Spider-Man 2) is rather dull and only tangentially mentions what we’re most interested in–the new scenes. A 12-minute featurette on the second disc does discuss those, while another congratulates the visual-effects crew for their Oscar. Also included: 30 minutes of visual-effects analysis, a multi-angle look at Danny Elfman’s score, and a pop-up trivia track. –David Horiuchi

I’m with Mr Horiuchi on his assessment that the 2.1 edition does not warrant an additional purchase, but I was able to find a digital code that included both versions of the film for only $6, so I’m not going to complain too much. There’s some great aspects of this film, but the director (Sam Raimi) simply couldn’t help himself with some of the b-grade horror stuff that goes on. That being said, it’s Sam Raimi, you should really know what you’re going to get when you hire him for a movie, even if it is Spider-man, which is why I usually defend Spider-man 3 for being the mess that it ended up being.

Spider-man 2 was the last “great” Spider-man film until we got to Spider-man: Homecoming, which isn’t really a knock on Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-man films, I just felt that he was never really given a chance to really show his abilities and his films were unfortunately overladen with cgi and poorly thought out plot points.
