With a half hour left to the start of the work day, I was confident. I’d driven back from Jalopnik’s track day at Monticello Motor Club after an early start so that I’d have plenty of time to fill up the gas tank and grab breakfast at the Wawa down the street from my apartment. There was just one problem: every single goddamn fucking pump was taken.

This is shocking to me, that you have to explicitly tell grown adults to not be assholes. There’s a couple high volume stations that I’ve been to that have large stickers that tell you to not leave your car at the pump, and yet people still do it.

No one ever does anything stupid and everything goes the way you’d expect it to, with some fun and entertaining surprises along the way.

I really enjoyed about 5 games of this, though the first one froze up about 2 hours into it and I had forgotten to save the game. It was a reminder of an era that didn’t have autosaves, for better or worse.

Other than that one freeze up, this was fun, but I can only take so much of this style of game, so I’ll recommend it for consoles, but it didn’t have legs for me.

Bought it in 4k in a cheap sale, but man this movie is both good and bad. If you forget that the character was a mass murderer in the comics and routinely killed people just for the sport of it, then forget that there’s a man in there under all that goop, sure it’s an ok movie.

But it’s hard to forget those things, isn’t it?

My wife and I went to see this in the Dolby Theater for the 20 year anniversary of it’s release. Back in 1999 I was a freshmen in college without many pennies to rub together, so I missed it’s theatrical release and only watched it after downloading it from some file share service, either FTP or Limewire or something of it’s ilk. It was one of my first downloaded movies and both how I got it and it movie itself blew my mind. Seeing it in theaters was a great experience this time around, even if I did just watch it a couple months ago when I bought the 4k disc, which was an upgrade from my blueray set, which in turn was an upgrade from my highbit DVDs.

LEGO DC Batman – Family Matters

In LEGO DC: Batman – Family Matters, suspicion is on high after Batman, Batgirl, Robin and other DC superheroes receive mysterious invitations. However, family values must remain strong when Batman and his team encounter the villainous Red Hood, who is obsessed with destroying the Bat-family and all of Gotham City.

How does a LEGO kid’s film deal with the death of Robin? In the comics the character is beaten to death with a crowbar by the Joker, then Batman goes on a murderous revenge spree that’s only stopped by Superman himself!

The movie is less gory about the details and there’s plenty of laughs to be had instead of shocked screams of horror, I found myself actually liking this version of the “Death In The Family” storyline, which was briefly touched on here in the LEGO film. It has more story content from when the Red Hood showed back up and everyone was trying to figure out who he was.

This is a fun little mass murder simulator that has you managing 6 members of a bomber that has 8 seats, so you’re constantly moving back and forth from seat to seat trying to keep your murder plane up in the air while getting shot up by enemy planes. I gave up on it when I noticed that it has some mobile gaming drawbacks that made me feel like I was never really moving forward with upgrading my airplanes and after 3 or 4 crashes I was back to using the starter plane but doing advanced missions.
