It’s obvious to me that they’ve laid out a path for the series and are comfortable with taking the slow route, which is vastly to it’s benefit. I’m assuming they saw the total shitshow that the final season of Game of Thrones turned out to be and realized that letting the story breath just a bit would work out for everyone.
