    Palm Springs

Directed by Max Barbakow. With Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, J.K. Simmons, Peter Gallagher. When carefree Nyles and reluctant maid of honor Sarah have a chance encounter at a Palm Springs wedding, things get complicated as they are unable to escape the venue, themselves, or each other.

This is Ground Hog day, just with modern science and the added ‘fun’ story element of “what if you could pull someone else into the time loop?”. It’s enjoyable for what it is and I suggest it!

The Shape of Things to Come

Directed by George McCowan. With Jack Palance, Carol Lynley, Barry Morse, John Ireland. Some time in the future, man has set up colonies on the Moon, when Earth becomes uninhabitable. A madman decides to destroy the Moon colonies with his robots and automated ships, and only three people and their robot can stop him.

A delightfully low budget science fiction film from 1979 based on a story by Orson Welles written in 1933. The science doesn’t hold up even in the slightest and the story might as well be about an isolated town in the mid west that’s been taken over by a mustache twirling villain who’s taken over the entire town and run off the local sheriff.

It was still an enjoyable film with an energetic 70’s disco soundtrack, impressive miniture work, spaceships that look like pizza cutters, killer robots, and fantastic 70’s retro future fashion choices. I have some issues with the ending, but I’m sure I likely just missed something in the story that would explain it.
