The meddling Russians, Vatican officials, the international media spotlight, and her own insecurities all threaten her efforts to keep the fabric of society from crumbling as mankind discovers its startling origin.

I was really hoping for more than what this ended up being, It’s definitely not a bad comic, but it feels more like the outline of a great comic. Normally I’m all for short and to the point stories, but this could have used another 8 issues with a background on the UFO and the aliens that originally drove it, how humanity reacted to the news, and what exactly was going on with the Vatican.

Good, but don’t pay the full price.

The Sure Thing

Directed by Rob Reiner. With John Cusack, Daphne Zuniga, Anthony Edwards, Boyd Gaines. Walter Gibson is a university freshman going through a dry spell. His old buddy arranges a “sure thing” for him in California. Gibson and his classmate Allison then take a long road trip out to Cali, and both foil each other’s plans.

The fourth film by Rob Reiner, and incidentally also the fourth film for a very young John Cusak, who looked young enough to be in high school and not college, but that’s just his baby faced good looks doing their part. There’s a great bit part by an also very young Tim Robbins as the driver of the cross country ride that quickly turns into a karaoke crusade across the plains of America.

There’s a not so believable transformation of a uptight college girl into a party girl in the final act and it honestly feels tacked on just so the boy could get the girl. Even if that bit feels awkward, the rest of the film more than makes up for it.

Directed by Rodman Flender. With Warwick Davis, Charlie Heath, Shevonne Durkin, Sandy Baron. On his one thousandth birthday, an evil leprechaun selects the descendant of one of his slaves to have as his bride, leaving it up to the girl’s boyfriend to save her.

Surprisingly better than the first, but still a horribly deliciously corny film with much better special effects this time around.

There’s a tooth pulling scene towards the first act that made me cringe in horror more than the entire first move!
