Prescription Murder

Directed by Richard Irving. With Peter Falk, Gene Barry, Katherine Justice, William Windom. A psychiatrist uses a patient he is having an affair with to help him kill his wife, but his perfect alibi may come apart at the hands of a seemingly befuddled LAPD lieutenant.

A 2 hours long pilot movie that felt at first more like a James Bond film than a murder mystery, part of that I suppose is the setting itself, which is the late ’60’s. Peter Falk is super young here compared to when I know him from the later episodes of the show (never watched, but saw the trailers!), so that gave another bit of Bond fell to it as well.

Rewatched immediately after seeing the original version of the story for the first time, and while I’ve enjoyed the movie in the past I still did, but felt like the original version still had a bit more “something” to it. Mind you, this version has it’s own personality that the original doesn’t have either.
