Halloween 4 The Return of Michael Myers

Directed by Dwight H. Little. With Donald Pleasence, Ellie Cornell, Danielle Harris, George P. Wilbur. Ten years after his original massacre, the invalid Michael Myers awakens on Halloween Eve and returns to Haddonfield to kill his seven-year-old niece. Can Dr. Loomis stop him?

While Michael Myers does return, i can’t shake the feeling that this franchise is chasing something that was lost after the second film, and never really captures in this third outing for Mr Myers. The first two films did suspense and terror perfectly, but “The Return” feels more amped up and action oriented than the origins story, much to it’s own loss.

The 100 Season 7

Created by Jason Rothenberg. With Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos, Isaiah Washington. Set ninety-seven years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization, when a spaceship housing humanity’s lone survivors sends one hundred juvenile delinquents back to Earth, in hopes of possibly re-populating the planet.

What a fantastically weird way to end this show, honestly there’s only a couple other ways it could have gone, but for a series that wasn’t afraid to made hard pivots in it’s story lines at seemingly random intervals, this was pretty perfect.

I initial concept was amazing: 100 years after an apocalyptic war on earth, space stations containing the last of humanity sent one hundred trouble makers to the surface for two reasons: 1 to verify it’s safe to come back and 2 to take some of the load off of their over taxed life support systems. Each season took insane liberties with that initial concept with bunker people, grounders that survived the war, deep spacers that survived, AI, nano tech, post apocalyptic buildings, a language that was recognizable but not understandable, more AI, brain chips, fallen space stations, a SECOND nuclear apocalypse, stargates, interstellar wars, and finally a riff on Contact that didn’t feel completely out of place.

Whew. if you enjoy post apocalyptic science fiction, this is the series for you!
