    The Amazing Spider-Man 2012

Directed by Marc Webb. With Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan. After Peter Parker is bitten by a genetically altered spider, he gains newfound, spider-like powers and ventures out to save the city from the machinations of a mysterious reptilian foe.

Great casting for Gwen, good casting for Peter, but even their obvious chemistry couldn’t save a lack luster story with a creature design that just looked sad and not necessarily scary.

Sidenote, I bought this in a two pack with AS2, but there were also copies of the bluray versions of the movie in there too and I didn’t notice that it wasn’t 4k until I took the disk out. The lack of HDR was apparent, but the 4k/1080p different wasn’t.

Also, amazon yet again damaged the packaging of the movie set, so the disks themselves are fine, but the holder is all fubar. Worth sending back? meh.

    Possessor

Directed by Brandon Cronenberg. With Andrea Riseborough, Christopher Abbott, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rossif Sutherland. Possessor follows an agent who works for a secretive organization that uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people’s bodies – ultimately driving them to commit assassinations for high-paying clients.

Felt more like an indie film than I was expecting it to, so you’ll want to be in the right mind to watch. It’s slow and has something to say but isn’t really sure how to say it, but it has to be said.

I’m not sure what it was about in the end, but it had some high concepts that I enjoyed seeing played out.
