RIP Muere ‘El Risitas’

This Wednesday afternoon, the popular television personality Juan Joya Borja, better known as “El Risitas”, died at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville. “El Risitas” had to be transferred this noon from the Hospital de la Caridad de Sevilla (where he lived) to the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío de Sevilla, after a sudden relapse of his illness, where he died in the middle of the afternoon, according to sources consulted by ABC de Sevilla.

In September 2020 “El Risitas” was admitted to the Hospital de la Caridad in Seville, where he had been living since then. At 64 years of age and after suffering the amputation of a leg as a result of an illness, “El Risitas” requested admission to the institution that was promoted by the Venerable Miguel Mañara and managed by the brotherhood of the Holy Charity of Seville.

The popular actor and humorist from Seville rose to fame around the year 2000 by the hand of Jesus Quintero with his appearances in the programs “El vagamundo” or “Ratones coloraos”, where he told his experiences along with the late “El Peíto”. His laughter, jokes, personality and his famous catchphrase “cuñaooo” made him popular with the nickname “El Risitas”.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Marking his first 100 days in office, President Joe Biden will use his first joint address to Congress to pitch a $1.8 trillion investment in children, families and education that would fundamentally transform the role government plays in American life. Biden will make his case Wednesday night before a pared-down gathering of mask-wearing legislators due to coronavirus restrictions and in a U.S. Capitol still surrounded by black fencing after insurrectionists protesting his election occupied the very dais where he will stand. In the nationally televised ritual of a president standing before Congress, Biden will lay out a sweeping proposal for universal preschool, two years of free community college, $225 billion for child care and monthly payments of at least $250 to parents. His ideas reflect the frailties that were uncovered last year by the pandemic , and he will make the case that economic growth would best come from taxing the rich to help the middle class and the poor.
