The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August

Wildly original, funny and moving, The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August is an extraordinary story of a life lived again and again from World Fantasy Award-winning author Claire North.

Harry August is on his deathbed. Again.

No matter what he does or the decisions he makes, when death comes, Harry always returns to where he began, a child with all the knowledge of a life he has already lived a dozen times before. Nothing ever changes.

    Until now.

As Harry nears the end of his eleventh life, a little girl appears at his bedside. “I nearly missed you, Doctor August,” she says. “I need to send a message.”

This is the story of what Harry does next, and what he did before, and how he tries to save a past he cannot change and a future he cannot allow.

I’m not sure how I actually feel about this book, it’s addictive, only took me about 3 days to finish and I was constantly trying to figure out how the story would end, then when the ending happened, it was really the only ending that I think it could have possibly been. Am I happy with this ending? I’m not even sure, but it was a damn fine journey getting to it.

    Bad Girls

My friend from Columbia, SC just finished a movie called Bad Girls and he’s trying to raise distribution funds. He did another film, Theta Girl, which was an awesome exploitation/punk rock film. This one is in the same vein but better.

    The fold

STEP INTO THE FOLD.IT’S PERFECTLY SAFE.The folks in Mike Erikson’s small New England town would say he’s just your average, everyday guy. And that’s exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he’s chosen isn’t much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he’s content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve: far out in the California desert, a team of DARPA scientists has invented a device they affectionately call the Albuquerque Door. Using a cryptic computer equation and magnetic fields to ‘;fold’ dimensions, it shrinks distances so that a traveler can travel hundreds of feet with a single step. The invention promises to make mankind’s dreams of teleportation a reality. And, the scientists insist, traveling through the Door iscompletelysafe.Yet evidence is mounting that this miraculous machine isn’t quite what it seemsand that its creators are harboring a dangerous secret. As his investigations draw him deeper into the puzzle, Mike begins to fear there’s only one answer that makes sense. And if he’s right, it may only be a matter of time before the project destroyseverything. A cunningly inventive mystery featuring a hero worthy of Sherlock Holmes and a terrifying final twist you’ll never see coming,The Foldis that rarest of things: a genuinely page-turning science-fiction thriller. Step inside its pages and learn why author Peter Clines has already won legions of loyal fans.

I’m a huge fan of Peter Cline’s science fiction work, the “Ex-Heroes” series of books really did it for me and was one of the first really well done superhero novels that I was able to read and enjoy. “The Fold” was a book that I picked up and read nearly straight through, only stopping because it was 5am and I had work in just a few short hours, which left me with about 100 pages to read, which I did immediately after work was done.

If you’re a fan of transdimentional teleportation science fiction body horror, this would be a great book to pick up.
