War of the Worlds Season 2

War of the Worlds: Created by Howard Overman. With Léa Drucker, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Gabriel Byrne, Natasha Little. Set in contemporary France, this Anglo-French reimagining of H. G. Wells’ classic in the style of Walking Dead follows pockets of survivors forced to team up after an apocalyptic extra-terrestrial strike.

The second season continues the very loosely adapted story from the 1897 novel of the same name. You’ll recognize all the elements, but they’re done with modern sensibilities. This second season wraps up pretty damn definitely, so I’m not sure how they’re going to pull another full season out of what they ended on, but that seems to be the plan.

Disney made the absolutely unconscionable decision to release their tentpole film to theaters only, so if you live in a Corona hot spot like me, you have two choices:

Go to the theaters and risk dying from a lung infection.

Stream a handcam version of the film from Vietnam with French subtitles.

The film was good, but not good enough to risk my life, so I’m going to go with option 3. Stream it from whoever I can, then buy a copy of it when / if society is still around in a functioning form by the time the disk gets released.
