Ted Cruz Talks About Joe Rogan Being ‘President’ Of Texas If State Secedes From US

“If there comes a point where it’s hopeless, then I think we take NASA, we take the military, we take the oil,” Cruz told an audience at Texas A&M University.

    Dave Chappelle The Closer

Dave Chappelle: The Closer: Directed by Stan Lathan. With Dave Chappelle, Daphne Dorman. As he closes out his slate of comedy specials, Dave takes the stage to try and set the record straight; and get a few things off his chest.

After having a discussion with some friends about what Mr Chappelle was trying to say in his special, I figured I’d give the entire thing a good look. I’d already seen the necessary clips from various blogs to know what the general idea was, especially in light of his body of work. This special seems tailor made for outrage with small snippets that could be easily extracted to feed the outrage machine’s insatiable appetite for something, anything, to be absolutely disgusted with. It’s obvious that this special was a trap, one that the idiots fell for, hook like and sinker. On the face of it, Chappelle is mocking lgbqt peoples, and you’d sure be able to extract some racist or bigoted statements from the special, but the outrage only works if you don’t have intellectual honesty and are acting in bad faith, and most importantly, only present textual representations of what he says, instead of a/v clips, or even heaven forbid, present it as a total picture.

If you were outraged by this? You’re a fool that fell for a clever intellectual and social trap that Netflix and Chappelle laid out for you. Embarrassed by being called a fool? Don’t want to be made the fool of? Good! That’s the first step to being better tomorrow than you were yesterday, and after all, isn’t that what we should all be striving for?

    Finch

Finch: Directed by Miguel Sapochnik. With Tom Hanks, Caleb Landry Jones, Marie Wagenman, Lora Martinez-Cunningham. On a post-apocalyptic earth, a robot, built to protect the life of his creator’s beloved dog, learns about life, love, friendship and what it means to be human.

Johnny 5 is ALIVE! And now has a pet dog!

Finch is a good movie, as nearly all of Tom Hanks’ films end up being, though this one is a hell of a bummer and I wouldn’t suggest it for a Sunday night movie night with your wife to try to cheer yourself up from a bummer of a weekend.

As rules ease travelers head to US for emotional reunions

CHARLES DE GAULLE AIRPORT, France (AP) — The U.S. lifted restrictions Monday on travel from a long list of countries including Mexico, Canada and most of Europe, setting the stage for emotional reunions nearly two years in the making and providing a boost for the airline and tourism industries decimated by the pandemic .

    Fly Away Baby

Fly Away Baby: Directed by Frank McDonald. With Glenda Farrell, Barton MacLane, Gordon Oliver, Hugh O’Connell. Torchy Blane solves a murder and smuggling case during a round-the-world flight.

The second of nine Torchy Blane films, this was released just a few months after the first one in 1937. With how movies were distributed though, it might have been years for your local cinema to have actually gotten the film in for you to see! The three main actors from the first film are back and the action picks up relatively soon after the first movie ended, with Torchy on her way to get a marriage license to marry the Detective that she had hooked a proposal from in “Smart Blonde”. As luck would have it though, a murder was committed at a jewelry store, which happened to be on the way to the court house and Torchy couldn’t resist getting involved in the case. Glenda Farrell is again enthralling as Torchy Blane, hitting the highs and lows perfectly, this time on a chase across the globe to discover who killed the jeweler, who stole his diamonds, and what they were going to do with them. There’s some fun movie tropes here, the most recognizable of course being the still image of a map with airplanes overframed and a line going from air port to airport, all while dramatic music plays, all to show just where our crew was on their journeys from the US, to Hawai’i, to China, then to Germany. The airline of choice? American Airlines! Best part of this movie was that they omitted any casual racism (unlike in ‘Smart Blonde’) and even had some relatively progressive moments when they were in Hawai’i and the locals were performing for the tourists.

“oh I may not win the race, but I’m sure I’ll get a great story”
