    Moonfall

Moonfall: Directed by Roland Emmerich. With Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, John Bradley, Charlie Plummer. A mysterious force knocks the moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it.

It’s a disaster film form Roland Emmerich, who’s been pretty damn consistant in his previous post apocalyptic work with “ID4”, “2012”, and ‘The Day After Tomorrow” all having the same type of feel to them that “Moonfall” has. Sure there’s some really bad green screen work, but the concept is solid as a “terrible science fiction” b-movie concept that we all know and love him for, and leans more on the fiction portion than the science part of that phrase. Just look past the implausibility of a ‘megastructure’ the size of the moon, just ignore the bad science, and just ignore the rough writing, and turn off your brain, maybe you’ll enjoy yourself. or maybe you’ll find yourself wanting to purchase a new Lexus car, as shown in the film several times, who knows.

“they’re going to nuke the moon?!” is likely my favorite line from the film.

Also, if you’re in the mood for a story that’s more science than fiction about a moon break up, “Seveves” by Neal Stephenson was a fantastic “what if” story that’s vastly better than this film.
