Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection #180 Borg Cube

This is the final issue of the series, it’s hard to believe that I’ve been a subscriber for as long as I have, nearly 10 years! There’s still about 7 ships that Eaglemoss has been unable to ship to me for whatever reason, so I look forward to getting those one day, either through Eaglemoss or through alternative vendors. Of course there’s a large and still growing “bonus issue” collection that they’re still adding to, but I think I’m done with the series for the time being, outside of the afore mentioned ones that they’re still trying to find in a warehouse for me.
How did this final issue go? Well, this is a great example of how the collection itself was, lots of totally pointless re-issues with moderately mild cosmetic changes, I believe this is my 4th Borg ship, this time it’s the one specifically from the “First Contact” movie. The model itself is fine and it’ll look great with the other Borg ships, but the magazine might as well have been a picture book with how minimal the written information was in it.
I’ve never once set up the 170+ ships that I have from this collection in one place, I don’t think I even have the space for it anywhere in my home, but one day when I hit the lottery (that I don’t play) and I build my own McMansion, I’ll have a totally sweet display museum for all these silly ships.

I’m now breathing completely fine and I think I’m theoretically invincible for the next couple months. My one struggle now is that I’m not sleeping as well as I was when I was taking half a bottle of Nyquil, Melatonin, and living through an admittedly light viral infection. Last night it took me a couple hours to get to sleep and even when I did get to sleep it was a pretty light one. I’m happy that I was vaccinated and twice boosted, then waited until it was omicron floating around to get infected, but I still think Ron DeSantis can get fucked for his decision to force my wife to work in an office again. There was no reason for it then, and there’s still no reason for it, it’s just a waste of money, time, and effort. If I ever get the chance, I’m going to tell him to get bent in person.

I believe this came with my purchase of Horizon Zero Dawn on steam, which was honestly a fantastic experience. This PDF book is a short read as it’s 99% concept art, but it took me the better part of 30 minutes to get through the 53 pages because of how much I could zoom in on the art and how much there was to take in. I wouldn’t have bought this on it’s own, but as a value added digital book, it’s a neat read.

A mediocre film from some pretty great actors, included LL Cool J, who I think has more screen time than anyone else in the film. My displeasure with the film isn’t so much with the intent or even the acting, but there’s something about the sum of the parts that fails to really bring it all together in a way that’s enjoyable. Perhaps the most offensive part is the casualness of the way they treated the “war toys” mentioning only in passing that they were being used to kill thousands of people off screen by the army of young children playing with them ala “Ender’s Game” style, then the lack of seriousness in the final ‘battle’ that takes place in the factory warehouse and play stage.
It’s a good candidate to have a remake made with someone that doesn’t have the unbearable weight of my expectations from a Robin Williams film. He was great with what he was given to do, but the story itself was just non-sense.
