I think going into this movie I had low expectations, but by the end of the movie I was impressed with how everything played out. The movie opens on a fantastic great opening sequence to set up the characters and motivations, followed closely by some great great shots of a house while a voicemail plays setting up the rest of the film. True, there’s some exceptionally stupid behavior on display in in the film, but it’s been proven to be just as exceptionally realistic in terms of what people will do when they think they have an audience. There’s a small amount of manufactured drama in the third act, but that can be forgiven in light of how much the rest of the movie has to offer.
I’m particularly happy with how much inconsequential foreshadowing happened to be extremely consequential when it came time to act on it, ranging from minor plot points to a major twist in fortunes.
I think if you go in as I did, expecting not much from a movie about two ladies on a tower they shouldn’t be on, you’ll be happily surprised about how much depth there is to this personal disaster movie.
