This is Civita dei Baggnorgio, from my trip to Italy. There are only about 8 people who live here as the city is falling apart. There are a lot of cats there that like to follow you and creap you out. We went in the morning when the sun just started to rise and there was no on in the town. By the time we left it was full.

Oh God, i have so many ponies to offer you!

There’s a serious lack of posts in the MCS queue right now, though I do have to be honest, I’m lying right now.  There’s about 200 pony posts sitting in the queue that I could approve, but I’ve heard that not everyone appreciates the pony posts as much as I do.  Would you like to keep the pony posts at bay?  Then you really really REALLY need to go to the MCS submission page and submit some images, because there’s only a few hours left of regular images before I start approving pony posts again…

    Portal Bookends

These officially licensed Portal Bookends not only feature test subjects going through orange and blue portals, but they also really, actually, pretty much keep your books in order! The left side features half of a test subject going through an orange portal while the right side features the other half of the test subject coming out the blue portal. Bookends make for a great conversation starter! Imagine all the great conversations this piece will inspire! Don’t be the guy or gal that misses out on this slick pair of Portal bookends. If you happen to be a test subject at Aperture Science, you’re probably going to need these anyway. Bookends measure 5-inches tall x 4-inches wide x 2 1/4-inches long.

    To Busy?

    violin.jpg (22 KB)

    violin1.jpg (13 KB)

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally, the mother pushed hard, and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money, but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?

One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:

If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?

    ‘The mc chris Cartoon’ Trailer

DC is now dead to me

Remember the awesome Power Girl costume? It was one of the truly awesome things about the DCU, and now they’ve gone and destroyed that too, along with everything else that you’ve ever held dear. The only endearing part of her new costume is the “P” that’s been incorporated into the cape design.

  • Abrams Sells Post-Apocalyptic ‘Revolution’ Pilot To NBC

“In this epic adventure thriller, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever.”

I’ve completely given up on JJ Abrams’ work, after seeing what he did to Star Trek, how LOST ended, the cluster f*ck that Fringe turned out to be, and ultimately hearing his TED presentation, I’ve realized that he’s not there to tell a story with a firm start, middle and end, he’s here to tell you about the possibility of the story, not the story itself. Seeing the reviews of his latest project, Alcatraz, it seems like I’m right on the money about his style of story telling…all style, little substance. Also, I think I saw this series already when it was named Dark Angel, Jericho, Terra Nova.

The Middle Finger Heard Around The World

Apparently, Middle fingers are obscene now? Is this all we have to be outraged about? I remember seeing the digital fuckup, but just attributed it to incompetence on the broadcaster, but apparently we can attribute it to moral outrage that someone moved their hand in a fashion that was obscene.

No one’s commenting on the fact that I stared at Madonna’s starred vagina for 20 minutes, and that she was spreading her legs like professional whore. I enjoyed it, and wish more women would do it, but seriously, all that and the country is having a shit fit over MIA’s middle finger? Thank god it wasn’t a boob or else the country may have exploded.

The finger in question, with the attempted censoring:

Rare Calvin & Hobbes watercolor up for auction

Calvin & Hobbes cartoonist Bill Watterson is notoriously reclusive, and original pieces of art from his long-running strip are just as rare. That’s why recent news by Heritage Auctions that a piece of his is going up for sale is worth perking your ears up about.

    USS Enterprise-C Coffee Table

The crafting site Etsy often has interesting home-made Star Trek items, but this one is especially impressive. Barry Shields from Tennessee is offering a coffee table shaped like the USS Enterprise C (from Star Trek: TNG’s “Yesterday’s Enterprise), carved from ash, poplar and cherry wood.

No idea why he chose to do the Enterprise-C, she was only seen in a couple episodes of TNG, and was ultimately destroyed by the Romulans…

    Internet-Fight is ALIVE

Since I am now gainfully unemployed, I’ve been going through some of my old web properties that haven’t gotten much love since….crap, last post on www.tikiwebgroup.com was in 2010, so it’s been long overdue to make sure the site is working properly, gets new content, and starts to pull it’s own weight.  So I ask of you: WHY.

Internet-Fight Polls should be new every morning, so feel free to stop on by and vote on whatever it is we’re talking about over there…you might even have an account there if you’ve been around long enough!

Riddick 3: First Look At Vin Diesel as Riddick

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Technically, this is the fourth Riddick movies, but whatever, I’m psyched for it.

Daniel Craig in the First Official Image From Skyfall

In Skyfall, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

hopefully you guys will be done with Skyrim by the time Skyfall is released. I remember how viscerally I hated Daniel Craig as Bond, and I still do not think he’s even remotely appropriate for the part, but he IS starting to grow on me a little. Just a smidge.

    Let’s Talk About The Future

Yesterday, I lost my day job. I was fired for some rather dubious reasons, but it boiled down to the fact that someone on the board of directors didn’t like the fact that I had a job, so they lobbied to correct that situation, and thus I find myself wondering how I’m going to make my next mortgage payment, or how I’m going to buy my next beer (answer, no beer until I’m back in the work force).

That being said, now that I’m temporarily unemployed, I’m going to devote much more time to the various websites that I have created and just let coast, including www.internet-d.com www.movieties.com and www.myconfinedspace.com My first task to to create a new “landing page” for mcs. This also means TIMELY posts on internet-d and movieties, so please feel free to visit those sites.

Another thing this means? I’m going to be in the MCS chatroom MUCH more, and I’m going to need people to talk to, so feel free to swing on by. This is going to be a full time gig for a while, so starting 8:30am EST until

    MCS vs SOPA and GoDaddy

My first domain that I ever registered was www.comiccovers.com. I can’t remember who I registered it through initially, but I do remember it cost me something like $40 to register and set up. Eventually I found GoDaddy, liked their $10 domain price, and started buying up domains like a bitter beast that could only be satiated by new and exciting urls.

GoDaddy’s prices were great, but the name is unprofessional sounding, their management system is a headache, and it’s hard to suggest them to clients when I know that the guy that owns the company is a complete douche nozzle. That being said though, I have nearly 50 domains with them, due to apathy on my own part, and the knowledge that the transfer process is painful.  It doesn’t have to be so damn complicated and stressful, but they really don’t want to make it easy to leave at the drop of a hat, so I’ve stayed with them and let the auto renew process take care of everything.

The final straw though was GoDaddy’s recent back and forth on SOPA.  Whether or not you believe that SOPA could mean an end to the internet as we know it, you MUST believe that SOPA is a big deal, one that would definitely shut down sites like MCS with a single complaint to the domain host by a single IP holder, with little or no legal recourse.   The idea that SOPA is even being considered is offensive, and the fact that GoDaddy is supporting it is obscene.

Effective immediately, I’m transferring all my domains over to namecheap.com

Trailer for an ‘Angry Birds’ Film

Jason and Tommy are tasked with delivering the Queen Mum’s famed Fabergé egg collection to a museum in Philadelphia. Only when they get to America, they find the eggs are gone. A team of highly-trained femme fatale art thieves have stolen the case the eggs were transported in, only to discover another team of swine-masked bandits has made off with the actual prize.

These so-called “American birds” aren’t just going to sit back, and let someone else get all the glory and gold. They’re smart. They’re sexy. And now, these birds are angry.

From the creators of God of War (Indie Movie), The Legend of Zelda (1987), and Inglourious Plummers comes the next epic of blockbuster proportions: Angry Birds.
