Legion of Super-Heroes

I loved the title sequence of the movie, it has some great references to the original Superman film and even the Supergirl movie that I’m sure we’re all happy to forget about. The story opens with Solomon Grundy shooting up the town, which begs the question: who gave Grundy a gun? That’s not a question that gets answered though, because with the combined efforts of Superman, Supergirl, and Batman, Grundy’s beaten into submission, but not before Supergirl causes about as much damage as Grundy did! She and Superman have a great talk about how her life is different than his, but he has some suggestions on how she can work through it: travel through time and hang out with the Legion of Super-Heroes to learn how to be a true hero. There’s a lot of unpack from all this, but the end result is a fun movie with some real heart that works for me on a few different levels.

I’ve struggled through yet another viewing of the entire series, this time staying 100% awake for 100% of the episodes, mostly because we were watching one or two episodes a night with dinner. It’s a shame the series never really got the resolution that I rightly deserved, as that fourth season was showing some real promise, but it had it’s knees blown out by the powers behind the wheel with a final episode that really took the wind out of the sails for fans of ENT.
The story continued on in the books I’m happy to say, but it’s a shame you have to shift media formats to get more of a good thing.
