Roku Adds Apple TV App Just in Time For Apple TV Plus Streaming Launch
I’m assuming that I’ll be able to watch 4k/hdr content on this integration, which will be awesome as I’ve had several movies get locked behind apple’s pay wall that I haven’t been able to get to yet.

Comic Review for week of October 9 2019
Tags:Book Reviews, Comic Books, Comic Covers
Calling this the “Pyro” issue is technically correct, but man is it missing the point of the issue.
I’m still saving these for when I have them all, which I think I’m like one issue away from having them. Then I’ll need to find time!
A great wrap up of the Black Cat story, laying the ground for her to come back later as a less bad person.
I can’t tell about this book. Is it actually racist? or are they doing a poor job at satirizing someone that’s been satirized more effectively by others?
Purchased both at the same time due to the LCS forgetting to pull one for me last week. Good short horror stories!
Not much happens here, but then again, nothing ever really happens of note in these lead-in comics.
Fantastic cover, absolute garbage story and art.
I think I missed a couple issues here, but I’m somewhat familiar with what’s going on, so maybe I didn’t. Regardless, this is another “nothing is going to happen” prequel, this time to a video game.
Fantastic battle between bounty hunters and Vader.
This is it, my final GI Joe comic for a while. It’s not a bad one and in fact makes me think that maybe I should buy the rest of this story.
Ah, Watchmen #1, a great start to a long story that really said some cool things but drug on way too long to really hold my attention.
Iron Man 3
Tags:Iron Man, Iron Man 3, Movie of the Year 2019, Movie Reviews, Movies
Easily the worst MCU movie to date, with inconsistent internal logic, a story structure that just never gets off the ground, and I’ll never forgive them for not including any of the previously mandatory music from ac/dc.
The best thing I can say about it was the orchestral soundtrack was amazing, the acting was on point, and the special effects were what I would expect from a MCU movie.

4k/hdr review:
this is it, my favorite iron man film. there’s a few reasons for this, but there’s two that immediately come to mind: 1 – war machine is amazing here, and this was really the first “big universe” feeling movie, in which Nick Fury, Black Widow, Agent Coulson, and even for a brief moment, thor’s hammer all make appearances.

4k/hdr review:
This sure is a pretty movie, still holds up amazingly well after 11 years, but I’m still somewhat bummed by Terrance Howard only getting a single movie, though that’s tempered somewhat with how well Don Chedle handled the role of Roady.

I’ve added descriptions to every tag on MCS
This is a project that I’ve been working on, randomly, for several years.
As of tonight, all posts are tagged, all tags have descriptions. I’m about to start adding in some other error checking items to my list, the other notable one was to immediately alert me about posts with 1×1 images in them, which was no good at all.

Warm Suicide
A beautiful woman is standing on a bridge, looking over the side and thinking about jumping off.
A homeless man walks up to her.
She sees the man coming and says, “Go away! There’s nothing you can say to change my mind!”
He says, “Well, if you’re going to kill yourself anyway, why don’t we have sex? At least I’ll enjoy it.”
“Absolutely not! You’re disgusting!”, she replies. The man turns and starts walking away.
“Is that all you’re going to say? You’re not going to try to convince me that life is worth living? Where are you going?”
“I have to make it down to the bottom. If I hurry, you’ll still be warm!”, he says.

Comic Review for week of August 28th 2019
Not-snake eyes is under surveillance by Cobra! Yo Joe Cola makes an appearance!
More ninja on ninja violence, when will it stop? Hopefully not any time soon!
I absolutely loved this cover, it’s a fantastic celebration of the wonder of Marvel Comics. The content inside was a waste of time reading and had absolutely no redeeming value.
Poe belongs to the stars, but they shoved in someone else for this story to take the punch out of a story that should have been his alone.
I’m still missing #2 and #3, so I’ll hold off to review until those are done.
Love the cover, love the story, just wish we got more Trek comics of this quality.
Who knew that the cry baby general from the First Order came from a troubled childhood?
The end of an interesting story that ultimately went no where.
3-D gimmick! McFarlan is a great artist to do this with, as he’s always throwing extra stuff in for the backgrounds and his spidey art is highly dynamic. Specifically there was a scene with some pigeons flying around, then a scene with spidey in the air and his webs flying all around him that worked really well for the 3d effect.
continues to be the first thing I read when it comes time to reading my weekly pulls.
Not a great book, but come on, the parody cover alone was worth the price of admission.
I think I’m back on board with what’s going on here, the villains are more better well explained and there’s a guest star in the last panel!
The creative team on this book is just mind blowingly good. May they always have access to the Batfamily!
I love this cover and I love what they’re going for here.
And now, some reviews for books that didn’t just come out, but I just read:
An interesting concept and I’m surprised as how well it worked. LCS was having a half off sale on their hardcovers and I’d had my eye on this one for a while, and at that price it was well worth my time to read.
I actually bought the 8 single issues and the covers for them are pretty dope, they spell out AVENGERS and looks amazing all lined up. The story inside is not as interesting and seemed to meander for most of the mini series with no real point to the whole thing. I also bought the first mini series, it has the same situation, cool covers, but I’m assuming the story is going to be less exciting.
I think I bought these because I found them for three or four bucks each on amazon and I had read the Image Firsts version of the first issue and was somewhat interested in the story. It’s a great story and some good art, but at the end of the day I don’t think this series is for me.
Comic Review for week of August 21st 2019
Events on the cover do not happen in the book. Not to say that this a bad cover (might complain about what she has on it though), or that the story inside is bad, just a weird fetish of mine is to complain when the advertisement on the cover doesn’t reflect the story being sold inside.
First issue of her third or fourth series, she finally has a name, though that was given to her in the previous series. Marvel has really leaned into the idea of just re-numbering the series when sales start to lag, luckily they’re also using the legacy numbers along with this, so it’s the best of both worlds. This was my first issue of any of her series that I’ve read and my only exposure to her has been through the spider-verse storline, then the spider-verse movie. I love the concept, and I love her costume, but as of this issue I’m learning that it’s alive somehow? Might be a symbiote? I dunno! I may or may not go back to buy previous issues to find out, but I feel like she’s one of those characters that has most of her growth in series that are not her own, primarily the spider-man books, and to figure out her story is going to be a serious pain in the ass.
She’s getting into politics! What a waste of a fantastic character!
They’re still on the run from the bad guys from the first issue, I’m on the fence on if I like these characters or not.
Star Wars story about the bad guys killing the good guys, but being sympathetic while they kill them. ehhhhh.
The art direction is pretty weird, but I’m still enjoying the Marvel Action books more than the mainline Marvel books.
I can’t remember if 616 Black Cat had luck based abilities, all I remember about her is that she was a burgler that hooked up with Spidey a few times. She’s a luck based burgler here in the MA universe, but there’s been no Spidey flirting yet.
Golly I’m enjoying the Adventure books!
… I only bought it because of the Art Germ cover, but this storyline is weak sauce, throwing out the last 20-30 years worth of story and just pick up where the author previously left things when he left the character in ye olden days.
“Family Guy” Something Something Something Dark Side
Tags:Family Guy, Movie of the Year 2019, Movie Reviews, Movies, Star Wars
I’m still waiting for that third one, and now that Family Guy and Star Wars are owned by the same companies, maybe we’ll see it? or is it less likely now that Disney owns them both and it’s not just up to Lucas Films any more?
A Reminder Do Not Park Your Car At The Gas Pump You Terrible Debased Heathens
This is shocking to me, that you have to explicitly tell grown adults to not be assholes. There’s a couple high volume stations that I’ve been to that have large stickers that tell you to not leave your car at the pump, and yet people still do it.

Found it online for $2, so I bought it, watched it, and other than Robot Chicken, this is among the best Star Wars parodies out there.
Bomber Crew Complete Edition
Tags:Game of the Year 2019, Game Reviews, Gaming
This is a fun little mass murder simulator that has you managing 6 members of a bomber that has 8 seats, so you’re constantly moving back and forth from seat to seat trying to keep your murder plane up in the air while getting shot up by enemy planes. I gave up on it when I noticed that it has some mobile gaming drawbacks that made me feel like I was never really moving forward with upgrading my airplanes and after 3 or 4 crashes I was back to using the starter plane but doing advanced missions.

Tiki Asks: Have you ever had a surprise gift in something you bought?
I recently (this last weekend!) bought a large collection of first run Star Trek books, they were $30 on facebook for 60+ books, which is a great deal for these first edition paperbacks. They mentioned that there were several Trek fan club things too, which were included in a large envelope.
When I got home, I found several welcome letters from Gene Roddenberry, and signed by Gene. I thought that was awesome, but then I found a picture of Spock and Kirk, signed by Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner.
Well worth the $30!
Have you had any pleasant surprises like these?

I’m a big fan of Katie Sackoff, but this isn’t her best work. There’s some extremely uneven writing here, but I feel like it’s the start of a great storyline.
Unfortunately though, the negatives far outweigh the positives and i can’t really recommend the series.

Comic Review for week of August 16th 2019
The end of a relatively interesting story that never really captured me. This was my first real introduction to the character and for all intents and purposes she’s a fairly irredeemable character
Two fun stories in a book that has a legit spine.
Good wrap up of a story that I would have read 10+ issues of. I hope they revist this planet and history again.
Spock rocks the vote, all while the Enterprise is helplessly floating around space doing not much of anything because of a mutiny attempt.
Good wrap up, I suggest this mini series, it’s goooood.
I have all the back issues for this on order and they should be to me by next review!
I’m still surprised at how earnest and wholesome this series has ended up being. Sure, it opens on a decapitation, but that served the story well.
Hit-girl makes some new friends!
Hit-girl’s new friends get all shot up!
“You wanted Vader? Well here he is!” he says as he runs from Vader. i’m happy to see this bounty hunter back in action, and i’m really happy I read star wars 108 before this series started.

Borderline pornography, but boy howdy does it take it’s basic premise and run with it. I’m going to get the collections and see how I like them.
Punisher is asked to team up with Night Thrasher, Moon Knight, and another mysterious guest star. I dig the idea here and where they’re going with it.
Still enjoying the story, still digging the black and white covers.
This was a huge month for Image Firsts, with a few good ones like Unnatural and this one “Trees”, which is about a post first contact Earth in which the Aliens don’t even recognize us as something they’d like to communicate with. Another one that I’ll eventually get the trades for and consume at a later date.
Dan Abnett can do no wrong, I’ll die on this hill if I have to.
I love the story they’re telling here, but absolutely hate the art style.
Honeymooners getting busy in the back rooms of the Honeymoon Hotel!
Is this the same Ice Cream Man that shows up in the DC comics as well? I’m a fan of the horror story that’s going on here but have no clue what the ICM has to offer. Interesting enough to suggest the issue to anyone interested in horror stories, but not interesting enough to check out other issues.
I’ve been buying this series since I noticed my LCS had nearly the entire run for cover price, and I’m still missing about 4 issues, so I was holding them all until I had the entire run, but then I forgot I was doing that and read this one. Guess I’ll have to move up my purchases of the other missing issues so I can just read through them all asap, because I loved this first issue.
I have no clue why I put this on my pull list. It was an ok story, but I can’t remember what the hook was that got me interested.
I was not prepared for how weird this story was going to be, but I’ll keep an eye out for trades at future conventions, it seemed interesting enough to read the full story.
Warren Ellis is one of the good writers out there, and this was a good first issue, but there’s no story elements that would make me come back to this.
This comic was not made available to me, either through LCS or Diamond problems.
I remember buying and reading the first issue of this series and not being interested in what they were putting down. That remains to be the truth.
Not new, but still needs a mention:
Robin: Son of Batman
LCS had nearly the entire run for $.25 an issue, so I grabbed these and read through most of them. Great art and great story, all featuring a character that I haven’t really had much exposure to, the new Robin, which is the actual son of Bruce Wayne. I missed out on all these shenanigans when they were originally happening, as I had checked out of the comic book scene for a bit, but I’m happy to have the opportunity to read them now.
