I’m shocked to say that of the 10+ hours that I’ve played so far, this is an extremely polished game that’s still technically in beta, but is more than ready for people to give it a try. There’s no real story mode yet, but plenty of mechanics to drive you forward in the game, exploring, doing science, or battling bugs or spiders.
The spiders are scary, I’m here to tell you!

Supergirl
Tags:Comic Books, Movie Posters, Movie Reviews, Movies, Supergirl
My wife had never seent it, and I found it on the itunes for just $5! Supergirl was released in 1984, just a year after Superman fatigue was starting to set in with Superman 3, but this film may have helped that problem move further along. There’s not much to be said for the story, it’s about a Coven of two that are scheming their way to the top when a series of unfortunate events leads to Kara El to be sent to Earth to recover one of the only power sources her people have left.
While the wire work is obvious it’s still done well enough to be believable and doesn’t take you out of the film entirely.
Jimi Hendrix Online Slot
NetEnt is well known in the online casino industry and for good reason, they have developed a knack for creating games based on world famous icons and blockbuster movies. It is no secret that games such as Jimi Hendrix Slot have garnered quite a following of late and it looks as if there is no stopping their market domination. (more…)

Effects of online casino on regular in-house casinos
The history of casino gambling is a truly fascinating one, littered with all manner of technological innovation, as well as a fair amount of tension between global authorities too. Something that might be surprising to learn is the fact that the first genuine land-based casino was only established in 17th century Venice, with all other gambling before this taking place in non-official places that were often at loggerheads with the law enforcement forces.
This all quickly changed after the Venetians opened up their first year round casino establishment called the Casino di Venezia, and before long Europe was home to countless similar institutions. Fast-forward several hundred years, however, and casinos can now quite literally be found anywhere, something that is largely down to the emergence of online casino. Read on to find out the effects of online casino on regular in-house casinos.
Technological innovation in online casino bleeds into in-house casinos
One majorly positive thing about the emergence of online casino over the last few decades is that it has inspired land-based casinos to also make technological advancements in a range of fields. Perhaps the best place to see this is in the domain of slot machines, with the online slot industry also pushing land-based slot developers to make their games as exciting as possible.
It isn’t just with slots, however, as traditional casino gamblers are starting to see all manner of new technologies in their traditional gambling haunts. Just consider the rise of super modern gambling terminals from the likes of Storm Gaming Technology – going to the casino has never been so fun!
More gamblers look to gamble online
Obviously, if you make it easy for people to gamble online from the comfort of their own home, you would expect to see a slight drop off of people actually going to physical land-based casinos. The online casino market has definitely encouraged lots of players to do their gambling online, and you cannot really blame them when you consider the innate practicality of this.
So, online casino may well have taken some customers from the traditional in-house casino gambling sphere, however as we will see, it has also contributed to this too.
Online casino eventually attracts brand new gamblers to in-house casinos
The great thing about online casino is that it has made casino gambling so much more accessible to a wider range of people, something that in turn means that there are many new gamblers entering the casino sphere in the 21st century.
Whilst not all of them will ever set foot in a brick and mortar casino, this increased number of gamblers has succeeded in drawing more customers to the market. So, in a way brick and mortar casinos should be thanking online casino sites for attracting more gamblers, not the other way around.
In-house casino jackpots rise along with online casino jackpots
Online casino jackpots are only getting bigger and bigger, and this has a knock-on effect on in-house casino jackpots, that have been increasing in relation to this.
Superman Man of Tomorrow

A well done origin story for a little known and seldom mentioned character named “Superman”. I’m told that this is yet another re-start of the animated universe for DC, so even the stuff that DC was doing right is now getting overwritten.
Check it out if you’re excited to learn about Superman’s formative years in Metropolis in an alternative timeline that won’t matter in a few years when they reboot the entire universe yet again.

Ballistic The Palladium Wars Book 2
“I gulped down Ballistic in one long read, staying awake half the night, and now I want the next one!” -George R. R. Martin
There is a personal price to pay for having aligned with the wrong side in a reckless war. For Aden Jansen it’s the need to adopt a new identity while keeping his past hidden. Now he’s integrated himself aboard the Zephyr, a merchant ship smuggling critical goods through dangerous space. But danger is imminent on planet Gretia, as well. Under occupation, torn between postwar reformers and loyalists, it’s a polestar for civil unrest.
Meanwhile an occupation forces officer is pulled right back into the fray when the battle alarm is raised, an ambitious heiress is entangled in a subversive political conspiracy, and an Allied captain is about to meet the enemy head-on.
As Aden discovers, the insurgents on Gretia-and in space-are connected, organized, and ready to break into full-scale rebellion. History is threatening to repeat itself. It’s time that Aden rediscovers who he is, whom he can trust, and what he must fight for now.
I read this in just a couple sittings, smacking myself for somehow missing the fact that it came out right at the start of the global pandemic that thanks to Republican misaction and incompetence, has now killed over two hundred thousand Americans.
This is a fantastic book and I gave it a 5/5 on Amazon, making sure to preorder the next one so I don’t miss it’s release like I did this time. Every aspect of this book, this universe, are well within what I’m looking for in a story. The one negative I have is that Kloos isn’t dropping these every other month, because I would buy them on that kind of schedule. Since he’s still just human though, I can accept a new novel in this fantastic series every year if I have to.
If you enjoyed Starship Troopers for the armor wars, or Old Man’s War because of the world building, you’ll be right at home with Ballistic.
Life Magazine September 11 2001
A quick read, if you’re only looking at the words, this was part of the Time Magazine’s annual “the Year In Pictures” series, which thankfully includes images from the rest of the year that happened before and after 9/11.
I received this in a lot that I won from a goodwill auction, which seems like something I’m going to say a lot more these days, Goodwill has done pretty well with their online options, and in this case there was a $50 Star Trek book that I was able to get in a lot of 3 books for just $10. Included in the lot was the ST book, this 9/11 book, and book named “growing up with the Beatles”, which honestly I may not even read.
This 2001 book was good though, there’s a TON of other stuff in here that’s eye raising from the appointment of Rober Mueller to the FBI, to the uncertainty of the Bush administration, to the RIP section at the end of the book. If you’re interested in what else happened in that year, this is a good starting point.

Collects Once & Future #1-6.
The synopsis is wrong, but I see it wrong literally EVERYWHERE, so maybe that was the original intent at one time but how howdy I’m here to tell you that I don’t even give a flip, because this is an amazing comic book, with amazing art and a story that really pulled me in.

Wanderers
Tags:Book Reviews, Books, Fantasy - Science Fiction
The highly anticipated paperback edition of the runaway smash thriller of the year.
A decadent rock star. A deeply religious radio host. A disgraced scientist. And a teenage girl who may be the world’s last hope. From the mind of Chuck Wendig comes an astonishing tapestry of humanity that Harlan Coben calls “a suspenseful, twisty, satisfying, surprising, thought-provoking epic.”
The story is an epic tapestry of humanity, told in a chorus of disparate voices, including Shana, a young girl who wakes up one morning to discover her sister in the grip of a strange malady. She appears to be sleepwalking. She cannot talk and cannot be woken up. And she is heading with inexorable determination to a destination that only she knows. But Shana and are sister are not alone. Soon they are joined by a flock of sleepwalkers from across America, on the same mysterious journey. And like Shana, there are other “shepherds” who follow the flock to protect their friends and family on the long dark road ahead. For on their journey, they will discover an America convulsed with terror and violence, where this apocalyptic epidemic proves less dangerous than the fear of it.
“Wanderers is wonderful-a suspenseful, twisty, satisfying, surprising, thought-provoking epic of a novel.”
-Harlan Coben, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Run Away“Wanderers is a true tour de force, a feat of storytelling strength that remains with you long after the final page is turned.”
-Erin Morgenstern, New York Times bestselling author of The Night Circus“A magnum opus that grapples with culture, science, faith, and our collective anxiety while delivering an epic equal to Steven King’s The Stand…”
–Kirkus Reviews, starred review“This career-defining epic deserves its inevitable comparisons to Stephen King’s The Stand, easily rising above the many recent novels of pandemic and societal collapse.”
-Publishers Weekly, starred review“Chuck Wendig’s latest, Wanderers, is a magnum opus… epic in scope, yet told with an intimacy that hooked me from the first page. It reminded me of a technological version of Stephen King’s The Stand-but dare I say, this is even better…”
-James Rollins, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Crucible“With Wanderers, Chuck Wendig levels up-and when you consider the high level he was already writing at, that’s saying something.”
–John Scalzi, New York Times bestselling author of The Consuming Fire“[Chuck Wendig] is set to make a significant literary statement in 2019 with this Station 11-esque panorama of a post-apocalyptic America.”
–Entertainment Weekly
I grabbed this back when it was just $3.99 and had high hopes for it, it had some story elements that I thought I would be interested in, then about 1/3 of the way through the book another set of story elements were introduced that well and truly excited me. Sadly they didn’t go in the direction I thought they would and with some glaring plot holes I was near constantly screaming at the story in my head.
I want to vent to someone about this, so be weary of the comment section, there’s going to be spoilers there 😛
Kamandi Challenge
Tags:Book Reviews, Comic Books, Comic Covers
I found this complete collection at a local book thrift store and devoured it all in a single reading session. It’s intentionally cheesy, intentionally weird, and made me stop and think at the end of every issue, “how is he going to survive?!”. More importantly, it was ‘how is the author of this story’ going to save him, as well as “how was the author of the previous story going to do it” which then prompts, “If I were going to write it, how would he be saved?”. There’s two parts of this book that really struck me, one was an ending where Kamandi’s entire set of internal organs had been taken out and put in jars, and yet he barely lived (I would have done differently what they did to save him), and another entire story that was written by Kevin Eastman of TMNT fame.

The evil Dire Wraiths have escaped to Earth, but are hounded by a Knight ofthe Solstar Order, the one feared more than all others. He is Rom, theWraith-slayer. Rom, the Spaceknight!
Having followed the Dire Wraithsacross the galaxy, Rom finds they have infiltrated all levels of society, hidingin plain sight. Replacing many humans in key leadership positions, theWraiths’ plan to dominate the planet-and everyone on it-isgaining momentum. But Rom finds resistance from the humans as well, who fear heis just another alien invading Earth. He is joined in the battle by two otherSolstar Knights…but are they here as friends or foes?
Collects all 14issues of the series, the 2017 Annual, and the Rom: Revolutionone-shot.
As mentioned in a previous review, I found this entire series for cheap. There’s some funny business with the IRL character aspects, I think when the character made the jump from Marvel to IDW he lost the name of the planet he was from, as well as the subtitle of “Space Knight”, which is an honest shame, because it’s an awesome subtitle. The story gets moving in fits and starts and feels much like the origin story from the 80’s, but never really gets moving in a direction that I was super happy with, though I do like the new supporting characters. It was sadly canceled with issue 14, though the storyline was wrapped up in a separate mini series with the micronauts, which was satisfying enough to me that I would suggest reading the two series back to back as if they were one.
Revolution
Tags:Book Reviews, Comic Books, Rom: The Space Knight, Transformers
I had this series, as well as the Rom relaunch from IDW, from a sale that a local comic shop had before they eventually went out of business (rip). I remember really enjoying the overly sappy series that Marvel did back in the 80s, so I was happy to get the entire IDW Rom series as well as the IDW Revolution series for extremely cheap. I started with the Revolution series and it was perfectly MEH. Nothing too amazing, nothing too world shattering and I’m not sure I could even recommend it, if not for the pure spectacle of mashing together GI Joe, MASK, Transformers, Action Man, Micronauts, and Rom. The story is pure non-sense and the art is again, just perfectly MEH.

3 Things to Include in Your Back-to-School Budget
Year after year, as the summer draws to an end, parents everywhere look forward to the return of a normal routine as school starts up again. While summertime is a great chance to bond with your kids and enjoy some time together, the start of school is a welcome change for many parents. It also, however, means that you will have to prepare for some serious back-to-school shopping.
The few weeks before school begins can be an expensive one for many families. Supplies, clothes, and a variety of other things will need to be purchased so that your kids are ready with everything that they need to get back to their studies. As is the way with most long lists, though, it can be all too easy to forget about some key items.
If you are looking to draw up your back-to-school budget so that your kids are prepared for the beginning of the brand new school year, here are three things that you shouldn’t leave out.
1. A Backup Pair of Shoes
Many schools have dress codes in place for acceptable attire for students. Even if you child’s school doesn’t have such guidelines, you still want them to be comfortable throughout the day. Moreover, if you have younger children who are still growing, it is important that their footwear is comfortable enough to get them through the school day. While you know all this already, you might have suppressed the memories of those mornings where you are all running late because someone can’t find their shoes.
When you are looking to get out the door on time in the morning, the last thing you want to do is search for a misplaced or hiding shoe. This is why it is a good idea to have a backup pair of shoes handy for those inevitable moments. Are you not thrilled about having to purchase an additional pair of shoes? Kohls coupons can make that backup pair way more affordable.
2. An Oversized Sweater
Even though the weather outside might still be far from frightful and the last warm days of summer are still hanging on, cooler weather is just around the corner. You want to avoid being in a situation where you are trying to shop for warmer clothes after school has already begun as by then your free time will be at a minimum.
However, you don’t know exactly how much your kids are going to grow between the end of summer and the cooler days of fall. Go ahead and purchase a sweater or two in a size up for your kids. This way they will be sure to have a warm layer for fall that will fit by the time colder temperatures set in.
3. Miniature Packs of Sanitizing Wipes
These days, it is always a good idea to have a little extra antibacterial power on hand when leaving the house. Make sure that everyone has a miniature pack of sanitizing wipes in their backpacks so that they can make extra sure to keep all the surfaces they come in contact with clean and germ free.

Why It’s Important To Save Money
There should never be any doubt that saving money is important. Spending everything you have as soon as you get it is a recipe for disaster, and it will make your future very uncertain indeed.
Although we should all save money, not everyone does. Many people don’t have a separate savings account, for example, and they don’t put money away each month, relying instead on credit cards and borrowing if they need anything extra. The reason behind this—assuming you have money to spare to put into savings—is not understanding the importance of why these savings need to be made. Let’s look at that now, so that you’ll know exactly what you are saving for.
To Enjoy Your Dream Career
If you’ve ever been trapped in a job you don’t like because you need to make a certain amount of money to keep up with your bills, you might feel rather disheartened, especially if there are other careers you are much more interested in pursuing (but that potentially pay less).
If you have saved money while you have been working, you will be able to quit your job and move to a different one—one that you will enjoy—because you can still keep up with all the payments you need to make. Alternatively, you would be able to go to school to study for the right qualifications because you have enough money put aside to give you the freedom to do so.
To Establish Long-Term Security
It’s impossible to predict the future and no one knows for sure what’s going to happen. If you are able to save up money then no matter what happens—if you get sick, if you have to move home, if your place of work closes, and so on—you will have some measure of security to help you through the potentially difficult time.
This is why using your Kohls coupon and putting the money you save to one side, or comparing your online purchases, or simply cutting back on your spending can help you—the more you save, the more secure your future can be.
To Have Fun
Everyone needs to have fun in their lives, but usually doing this without worrying will involve you having already saved some money. This is true whether you are going for a meal in a nice restaurant, on a vacation, or enjoying an experience day of some sort.
By saving money you will be able to take time off work and spend that money on fun activities, rather than having to borrow money and potentially get into debt just to do activities that other people are able to do without any concerns at all.
To Cover Emergencies
Right now, if you were faced with an emergency situation such as a burst pipe, a fire, an illness, a problem with your transport, or anything else, what would you be able to do about it? If you don’t have any savings, you could be in a dire situation. However, if you have got savings and are able to use them to put the problem right again, you won’t have to have your life disrupted any more than it truly needs to be. This will reduce stress and help you recover quickly.

The Space Between Worlds
“Gorgeous writing, mind-bending world-building, razor-sharp social commentary, and a main character who demands your attention-and your allegiance.”-Rob Hart, author of The Warehouse
Multiverse travel is finally possible, but there’s just one catch: No one can visit a world where their counterpart is still alive. Enter Cara, whose parallel selves happen to be exceptionally good at dying-from disease, turf wars, or vendettas they couldn’t outrun. Cara’s life has been cut short on 372 worlds in total.
On this dystopian Earth, however, Cara has survived. Identified as an outlier and therefore a perfect candidate for multiverse travel, Cara is plucked from the dirt of the wastelands. Now what once made her marginalized has finally become an unexpected source of power. She has a nice apartment on the lower levels of the wealthy and walled-off Wiley City. She works-and shamelessly flirts-with her enticing yet aloof handler, Dell, as the two women collect off-world data for the Eldridge Institute. She even occasionally leaves the city to visit her family in the wastes, though she struggles to feel at home in either place. So long as she can keep her head down and avoid trouble, Cara is on a sure path to citizenship and security.
But trouble finds Cara when one of her eight remaining doppelgängers dies under mysterious circumstances, plunging her into a new world with an old secret. What she discovers will connect her past and her future in ways she could have never imagined-and reveal her own role in a plot that endangers not just her world, but the entire multiverse.
“Clever characters, surprise twists, plenty of action, and a plot that highlights social and racial inequities in astute prose.”-Library Journal (starred review)
