Level 79 Jason Graves Lone Echo
Tags:Gaming, Level With Emily Reese, Music
We experienced a hard drive failure and lost a bunch of audio, so Patron of the Week Lasse Andersen gets another interview, and we need to redo some 5 Songs episodes.
Backup your stuff, everyone. Or just be wealthy enough to have a million external hard drives that all back each other up.
Jason Graves wrote music for a new VR game called Lone Echo, from the studio Ready at Dawn. The music isn’t in the gameplay itself, but serves as respite from it. There’s multiplayer too.
In Lone Echo, you play the android, and the game plays the human. Nice role-reversal there, which offered Jason opportunities to have fun with human and non-human forms of music.
If I had to list my irrational fears, being alone in space would be near the top of the list, after being alone floating in the ocean, and a general fear of spiders. If I were floating alone in space, I’d like to have this music with me.
And if you wonder why “So Near, So Far” shows up so much in the playlist, it’s a 17-minute suite that includes a majority of the music Jason wrote for the game.

Sing review
Feels much like The Producers, though in this case the producer is unwittingly a conman, and not as intentional as the two liars from The Producers. SING has impressive animation set to pop songs that everyone knows and can sign along to, but it’s definitely missing something special.
X-Men: The Last Stand review
Tags:Comic Books, Movie Reviews, Movies, X-Men
For me personally, this was the best of the three X-Men movies. The soundtrack, character development and sheer scope of what it was attempting was fantastic. It gets unjustifiably maligned by some comic book fans for moving too quickly or trying to do too much, but I really feel like it didn’t fail in it’s attempts at a larger mutant story than what’s come before.
ReCore
Tags:Game of the Year 2016, Gaming, Recore
ReCore is an action-adventure platform video game developed by Armature Studio and Comcept, with assistance from Asobo Studio, and published by Microsoft Studios for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One. The game was released worldwide in September 2016.
The story tracks Joule Adams, one of the first volunteers for the utopian colony of Far Eden, who wakes after centuries in cryo-sleep to find that nothing has gone according to plan. With her three robotic machines known as corebot companions, Joule ventures throughout Far Eden to uncover the secrets behind the failed mission. The semi-open world environment of Far Eden is subject to exploration and the collection of resources. Joule’s weapons are color-coded to inflict damage on a particular set of enemies and, like her companions, can also be enhanced. The corebots support her in battle and puzzle solving.
Development began in 2014. The game was directed by Mark Pacini, written by Joseph Staten and conceptualized by Keiji Inafune. Mega Man and Metroid were significant influences in its creation. The development was divided between Armature Studio and Comcept into their own distinctive proficiencies, while Asobo Studio assisted. ReCore received mixed reviews, the most critical of which noted insufficient design choices, technical issues regarding lengthy and unsuccessful loading screens – later redressed – and repetitive combat. Praise was overall focused on the worthwhile story, platforming and controls.
Mighty No. 9
Tags:Game of the Year 2016, Gaming
Mighty No. 9 (Japanese: ???????????? Hepburn: Mait? Nanb? Nain?) is an action–platform video game developed by Comcept, in conjunction with Inti Creates, published by Deep Silver and distributed by Square Enix in North America. The creation of the game was based on the online crowdfunding website Kickstarter[3] and incorporated heavy input from the public. Mighty No. 9 closely resembles the early Mega Man series in both gameplay and character design, which project lead Keiji Inafune worked on, and is considered its spiritual successor.
The minimum Kickstarter goal for Mighty No. 9 was successfully funded after only two days of the creation of the campaign in September 2013.[3] However, several other features including additional stages, special modes and ports to other platforms were announced after additional “stretch goals” related to it were achieved, increasing the total funds obtained to over 400% of the original goal. The game was originally scheduled to be released in April 2015, but was delayed multiple times until it was eventually released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U in June 2016, with the PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, OS X, and Linux versions still in development.[4][5][6]
Mighty No. 9 was highly anticipated when it was announced, but lengthy delays and Comcept’s decision to fund another project, Red Ash: The Indelible Legend, through Kickstarter were met with accusations of mismanagement. The game received a generally mixed reception from critics and Kickstarter backers upon launch. The game’s design, graphics, content, voice acting, and technical issues were criticized, and critics agreed that the game failed to live up to expectations.
highway hog
Several carcasses fell from a truck that failed to safely secure the already dead livestock on I-75 north near Fruitville Road around 9 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
As of 10 a.m., one lane near mile marker 209 was closed, causing a traffic slowdown as crews worked to clean up — and hose down — the road because the “smell is so terrible,” tweeted Fox 13 News reporter Kim Kuizon. Kuizon said four carcasses fell onto the road, scattering body parts across the busy highway.

GALAK-Z game review
Prepare for the bar to be raised on deep-space 2D dog-fighting! GALAK-Z is a modern, A.I. and physics-driven open-world action game, viewed through the lens of the classic 16-bit space shooter. Powered by the next-generation Cyntient AI platform, GALAK-Z puts players in control of anime-inspired spacecraft inhabiting procedurally generated worlds.
In GALAK-Z both stealth and skill are required to defeat truly intelligent enemies. You will be forced to outsmart enemies that think, react and cooperate like seasoned pilots! Master your ship’s sublimely-honed controls as you blast enemies, unleash missile salvos, and even toss your opponents, mech-style, to their explosive demise.
Recently added, Arcade Mode lets you replay failed missions any number of times without losing all of your saved progress. Rogue Mode retains GALAK-Z’s original white-knuckle roguelike challenge that harkens back to the 16-bit era of gaming. Rogue mode will always be available if and when you’re looking to test your skill and bravery by putting everything on the line, every mission.
Players will be forced to outmaneuver, outgun and outsmart enemies that think, react and cooperate like seasoned pilots. Both stealth and skill are required to defeat enemy squads in a brutal game of cat and mouse. Prepare for an enemy that comes alive like never before!
Exclusive Guest Star: Juan from Guacamelee featured as an enemy unit in the game!
New The Void DLC w/ endless gameplay and Online Leaderboards and a Daily Challenge
ARCADE mode with per-Mission checkpoints
Procedurally-assembled levels
Physics based combat simulator!
Advanced enemy A.I for intense dogfights!
Scripted missions and ‘roguelite’ structure
Resource-based, progressive weapons system

Part Macross, part Voltron, part twin stick shooter, and an awesome soundtrack. I’ve played a few missions and by golly these sure were fun.
The Lobster review
Tags:Colin Farrell, Movie Reviews, Movies, The Lobster
Starring Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Olivia Colman, Ashley Jensen, John C Reilly, Lea Seydoux, Michael Smiley and Ben Whishaw, THE LOBSTER is a darkly funny love story set in a near future where finding love is a matter of life or death…
According to the rules of The City, single people are arrested and then transferred to The Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released into The Woods. A desperate Man (Farrell), escapes from The Hotel to The Woods where The Loners live and falls in love, although it is against their rules.
This was a weird but great film. Wooden acting from everyone all around, but I get the sense that this was intentional and just part of a society that would turn it’s single people into animals if they don’t pick a mate. They never get into the science fiction side of the story, this is more of a character piece that’s making commentary on dating and marriage and what people will do to find someone to be in their lives.

Obamanation
McNaughton Answers Questions Regarding “Obamanation.”
What do you hope to accomplish?
Someone once said, “there is nothing more irritating than being awaken from a sound sleep”—I hope to wake up a few. If anyone is undecided about voting for Obama, please study the painting, take the challenge, share it with your friends and help us to expose this man and vote him out of office this November.
Are you doing this for the money?
No. I paint what is important to me, but I know there are many who feel the same as I do about Obama. I am a professional artist. I make my living providing a service and I get paid to do it. The vast majority who view my work never pay a nickel. They pass it around on the Internet with their friends or see it on someone’s wall.
This is just propaganda.
It seems funny that when a liberal artist paints a political motif it is called artistic expression, but when a conservative does the same thing critics call it “propaganda.” When I think of propaganda I think of early twentieth century war posters commissioned by the Nazis and Communist regimes. It usually conveys a negative meaning, so I know why my critics like to use it to describe me. But I am not the government! I am simply one individual, a citizen of this country using my first amendment rights to speak out through my art.
Do you think this is art?
What is art? There are many certified art experts who would love to tell you the answer. Their opinions mean little to me because I only paint to satisfy my desire to share a message. For me, art has a way of communicating both thoughts and feelings that words fail to adequately express. If my art causes another to think and to feel, it is a success. I use metaphor and symbol because it leaves more for the viewer to discover, but for the few who choose to take the time to study I have the interactive website where I meticulously explain my images. I paint realistically because it communicates to the broadest audience. I paint political and religious subject because they are close to my heart. Whether someone from the history books could have painted it better means nothing to me. My art is an expression of the times in which I live and people will know how Jon McNaughton felt about being alive at this time in our history.
Is the original for sale?
Yes, and prints are also for sale on the website.

Jon Stewart says he’s leaving The Daily Show

Ending one of the most venerable and trusted careers in making a complete mockery of the news, Jon Stewart has announced that he is stepping down as host of The Daily Show. According to sources who were there (some of whom are already passing word along on social media), Stewart let the news slip at the taping of today’s episode, telling those in the audience that he’s retiring.

GOP senator who boasted about her family’s self-reliance received $460K in federal subsidies
Iowa Republican senator Joni Ernst gave her party’s official response to the State of the Union address by boasting self-righteously about her humble origins and how her self-reliant, heartland-state family pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps, but conveniently failed to mention that her family’s farm was the beneficiary of nearly half a million dollars in federal subsidies.

The Only Jet the Air Force needs to fund
Tags:Airplanes, Iraq, Military
Air Force Capt. Kim Campbell was sent to defend Army troops in the early days of the Iraq War in 2003. After firing on Iraqi Republican Guard troops, Campbell took an epic amount of enemy fire. Both hydraulic systems failed, forcing the pilot to switch to “manual reversion,” a mechanical backup that allows limited flight capability. Campbell kept flying for more than hour, safely returning to Kuwait despite being riddled with hundreds of bullet holes and a massive hole in the right horizontal stabilizer.
You’d think the Air Force would want to keep the A-10 around.
