This is hands down one of the most bonkers films that I’ve ever seen. Remember when Roger Rabbit came out and everyone was shocked at how well Bob Costas did with an animated co-start? Well here in CnD, it’s animation, early CGI, uncanny valley CGI, modern 3d cgi, and claymation, all in the same movies, often all at the same time. It’s also one of most self referential and self aware movies that I’ve ever seen, rising above anything that Ryan Reynold could only dream of.
If there’s one quibble that I have, it’s that they’re using a completely incorrect definition of “bootleg”, which is to say that a bootleg version of something is trying to be the original thing but doesn’t quite hit the mark. Maybe the definition shifted to “doing the same thing just slightly different to escape copyright law” but I missed it if that happened.
There’s at least a couple dozen franchises, movie series, televisions series, or production studios here, and only about one tenth of them are owned by Disney, I have no clue how they cleared all the rights for this film, but I’m super happy that they did.
Oh and there’s one scene where four characters played by one VO person and it’s glorious.

ComicMix will sell an UNLICENSED book of “lost” DR. SEUSS short stories now in the PUBLIC DOMAIN!
Jonathan Lane has been reporting on this whole thing since the entire fiasco started, if you go back through the posts here or there, you’ll see the entire store, it’s about 10,000 words that boil down to a disagreement on what exactly “fair use” means and what concepts a single corporation can claim it holds ownership over. IMHO it’s fine hair to split that would have been easier to manage if they had gotten permission from two of the most litigious and IP strict companies in entertainment. They fought the good fight and after one of the creators died from cancer they reached an agreement to drop the lawsuits and the book would not be published.
However…
While everyone was investigating the ins and outs of who owns what, the ComicMix folks discovered several stories written by Dr Seuss before he took that penname that never had their copyright renewed, so now they’re open to anyone to use, reprint, or most importantly, remix with whatever they think they can get away with.

Grim Dawn on Steam
I first started playing this about 3 years ago, finished the first level then promptly forgot that I was playing it. Luckily, I got back on the Grim Dawn horse and continued it as a result of needing a co-op game to play with a buddy on my Twitch stream, to much success. At first glance you’d be forgiven to make the obvious comparisons to the Diablo franchise: there’s an unspeakable evil happening around the world, you click around to shoot things, there’s tons of loot to pick up, and you’re the only one in the entire world that can do it. A closer examination though shows that there’s a depth that the Diablo franchise was never able to show me, and the DLC for GD is so seemless that I didn’t even realize that I had been playing it for a few hours before it was apparent that I was in DLC-land. My one complaint would be that I’m not a fan of the complicated build system that they have in place for the characters, and you really are required to seek out build generators for the classes you want to play, if only to save you hours of research in game. I was perfectly happy with the game after I found the right path to start down, but having to figure all that out was painful for me.
Steam says that I’ve played 31 hours, which is believable. It was an enjoyable amount of time to play the game, and I’m pretty sure I’m not even done with everything that I’ve purchased for it.
Halo

The broad strokes of the franchise are here, and there’s definitely a whole bunch of stuff that I recognize from the videos games, but most of what I recognize are the long plotlines from the books, which has to be absolutely maddening for anyone that didn’t read nearly every single one of them. There’s also a ton here that’s just unique to the televison series and it’s unfortunate to find the new stuff is the worst part of the show, with gratuititous nudity from the Chef, the Chef having sexual encounters to prisoners of war, to all the Spartans running around without Helmets on for 90% of their screen time. Look, I get it, this is a TV show and it’s difficult to convince an actor to hide their face for most of the show, but look how well it went for The Mandalorian, and if you hire from the perspective that this is mostly going to be a limited Voice Over role, who wouldn’t jump at the chance?
It’s telling that they only brought the voice of Cortana Jen Taylor onto the project when their first choice was unavailable. She’s the vocal heart of the franchise and the original intent was to not include her? Mistakes were made well before filming ever started. They certainly didn’t stop once everyone was on the painfully digital sets. As I said at the top, most of the adapted content was from the books, as the games didn’t have much in the way of the angst that is the revelation that the Spartans had extremely unfortunate origins.
It’s a shame for me personally that this franchise has gone in a direction that I don’t care for, I had bought in on it pretty damn hard. Even the last game was a lackluster release that was released way past when it was intended to be, but is STILL waiting to have co-op added to it.
Will we see a season 2? I hope not. Let the stumbling corpse of HALO die for a while, maybe it can be saved down the road, but right now it’s a franchise in search of meaning.

Only six episodes long and released 2 years ago, so there’s not likely going to be a sequel, but that’s just fine, this mini series did everything I could hope for with the subject matter, going places that I didn’t expect with a story that seems goofy on the face of it, but has some significantly interesting aspects to it.

BYE BYE BOOBER, HELLO LUCKY DEVIL EATS!

LEGO vs Cats, Goldie, Vinyl, and a Foot Fetish
One of my cats, Miles, not the one that’s in the picture, got on top of my fish tank and knocked off a LEGO AT-ST that I had up there. Luckily all the pieces were sitting right there and I could put them back together, but the tragedy of this is that now Miles knows he can get up there, so I need to figure out how to cat proof the top of a fish tank that’s feet off the ground.
This isn’t my cat, but a year or so ago, we got super friendly with her and were feeding her and giving her love nearly every day. She came and went as outside cats do, and the last time I saw her was on April 10th, a few weeks went by and I assumed that she had either moved on or became another part of the circle of life, but then today she showed up and started screaming at me, just like the first time we ever saw her. I wonder what she’s been up to. She didn’t get a chance to get pets today, was way too on alert, maybe tomorrow?
I bought this record at Goodwill for $2 and it’s everything I hoped it would be.

Casino Game Odds: Which Games to Play and Avoid
When somebody chooses to start gaming on the newcasinos-ca.com/bonuses/no-deposit/ website, they will undoubtedly want to know which games provide the highest odds. You’re undoubtedly thinking the same idea, which is fair given your desire to improve your odds of winning. Every online gambling has its own set of odds, so it’s worth looking into them. In that manner, you can locate and participate only in the events with the best chances.
It’s all about increasing your chances of earning big money! You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for the best and worst casino game odds. Let’s look at the greatest and worst casino game odds available.
How Casino Game Odds Work
The most significant aspect of any form of gambling, not only casino games, is the chances. All game have their odds, which show you how probable it is for a given event to occur in the game and how much you may win if it does.
The odds in casino games are always reported as numbers. However, they might be fractional or stated in percentages. Other odds exist, but they are not used in casino games.
We won’t go into detail about how casinos compute odds or other technical details, but we must discuss the house edge.
Casino Games with the Best Odds
Table games, overall, have the greatest chance, but slots have some of the lowest; that’s why you ought to avoid them if you’re simply interested in the best odds.
Even though consumers are more inclined to practice slots as well as other machine-based gambling games than table games, most experts will agree. The quick speed of table games and the intricacy of the rules generally overwhelm people.
Blackjack
Many high rollers choose blackjack because it generally offers the greatest odds. In most situations, they are forty-nine per cent, whereas the house edge is about 0.5 per cent. This means that for every CA$1 stake, you’ll miss only half a cent on average. Furthermore, blackjack features a skill component that can swing the chances in the player’s favour. Simple principles like always dividing 4s if the dealer reveals a five or a six or always striking 12 if the player shows two must be remembered. You can even carry a cheat sheet with these guidelines; the casino will not object because it is not against the law.
The essential aspect to remember about blackjack would be that you participate against the dealer, which means that even if there are other participants present, you are all gaming against the dealer. Blackjack is primarily a good fortune game, but if you blend the favourable odds with a little bit of creativity, you may significantly increase your chances of winning.
Craps
Craps is widely regarded as having the second-best odds behind blackjack. Craps, unlike blackjack, is almost purely a luck-based game, although your odds might fluctuate since you can put multiple wagers. You don’t need to know much about craps to get those amazing odds; all you have to do is gamble on a basic dice roll. However, learning more about the gameplay will let you put alternate bets with lesser odds but higher rewards.
Roulette
A roulette wheel has the numbers 1–36 on it, as well as a zero area. It’s a double zero field that is also present in American roulette. Because the numbers 1 to 36 are black or white, betting on colour should give you a 50/50 chance of winning. However, your probabilities are slightly reduced because there is also a zero field, and they are substantially lower with the extra double zero fields. The number that offers the house the advantage it desires is the green zero.
Remember that your chances are still close to 50%; that is why the game is widely regarded as having some of the greatest odds of any casino game. The major feature of roulette is that game is dependent on luck, but because the odds are so high, you stand to earn a lot more money than you would if you played slots.
Odds of the Worst Casino Game
Some casino games are excellent at producing diversity, but they have a high house advantage, making them terrible choices for players trying to earn a little money. These games are acceptable for anyone searching for a fun gaming platform, but they should usually be disregarded. Bad-odds casino games are appealing because they have the potential to pay out large sums of money. The primary keno prize can be enormous, but your odds of winning it are comparable to hitting the state lottery.
Keno Probabilities
Of all the casino games, Keno has the poorest betting odds. To counterbalance the space footage necessary to accommodate a keno lounge, there is a large house benefit. Players must handpick a least nine figures from an 80-number pool. Matching all nine digits is a 1 in 1.3 million probability of happening. As you pick additional numbers, the odds get much worse. When playing keno at an internet casino site vs. a traditional casino, there are minimal distinctions. The following are some examples of variations:
- Instead of nine digits, online casinos demand players to pick a minimum of ten. Some even demand a minimum of 15.
- Online, tickets may be purchased for one credit, although physical casinos demand two credits.
- Online keno jackpots are often lower than live keno jackpots, which can exceed 250,000 credits.
So, which is better: actual or internet keno? The answer is straightforward: neither. Many players are drawn to this lottery-style game because of the possibility of a large payoff and its simplicity. Still, your money would be better spent on other casino betting options. There is no way to improve your odds, so except if you love the thrill of playing Keno, stay away from it.
The Majority of Slot Machines
It would be unfair to lump all slot machines into the same category. Yes, there are many games out there that don’t offer participants much chance at winning unless they score a big jackpot. You’ve certainly noticed it when wandering around the live casino. Still, it’s much more crucial to consider in the internet realm: the vast number of alternatives implies you need to figure out which pastime is ideal for your gambling objectives. Most slot machines in a real casino have an RTP of roughly 93-97 per cent. That implies you may expect to receive 93 to 97 cents for each dollar you put into the machine. Isn’t that good? In terms of “trials” played, slot machines are as elevated as you can get.
You’ll probably accomplish hundreds of spins if you sit at the machine for an hour. That implies that even a small change in RTP might build up to a substantial amount over time.
When visiting a real casino, you are restricted to the games available on the floor. That is not the case with an online casino. Whenever it comes to real money casinos, don’t compromise for anything less than a ninety-seven per cent RTP, and you’ll be placing yourself in a situation to improve.
Uncharted
Tags:Gaming, Movie Posters, Movie Reviews, Movies
I did not expect to like this as well as I did, there was a struggle at the start for me to separate Tom Holland from his Spider-man role, as in those movie he’s playing a highschooler, and here he’s a 20 something orphan on an epic adventure of tending bar and pick pocketing until he’s approached by Mark Wahlberg’s character “Sully”. Mind that I’ve only played the first Uncharted game, but this was close enough to what I remember that I was happy with what we got, which is a pretty well done mystery adventure story that has all the hallmarks of the best movies out there. I’m not necessarily saying this is on the same level as the original Tomb Raider or Indiana Jones, but it’s damn close.
Softball, cats, comics, beer and a G-litter sign
Went to our first college softball game in about 3 years, it was fantastic to get back out there.
There was a massive bird of prey freeloading and watching the game without a ticket. Don’t worry though, he was bounced by some smaller birds that didn’t like him that close to their tree.
Why am I buying Star Trek audio books on tape? Because they’re like $2 each now days, and in mint condition! I doubt I’m ever going to listen to them in this form, but they look fantastic on my shelf, and I can mark them as “owned” over on the Star Trek Book Club
Our foster cat and her surviving four kittens. She had birthed six total, but unfortunately two of them didn’t make it past a week, and it’s been a heart wrenching, emotional week for me trying to save those two guys, but failing.
There was a smaller comic show that I went to and I picked this up. There’s two stories in the book, the first one is the one featured on the cover, the second one is the much better story and is based on “Deep Space Diner”.
Went to a local beer place to pick up some beer for an event. I ended up buying “Image Rendering”, “Strawberry Marg Slushhhh”, “Dadgarnet” , “Fixed Income”, and “Lengthening Coastlines”, but didn’t actually like any of them. The people that were at the event liked about half of them though, so that was a win in my book.
A sign at a local garden, apparently the idiots doing gender reveal parties were littering way too often and needed to be told to not litter at a state park.
A new foster cat: Nyx and her six kittens
We’ve received a new foster cat on saturday of last week (4/9) and she was super dooper pregnant, then become extremely ill the following day with an upper respiratory infection, struggling to breath, but then had six kittens on Wednesday (4/13). I was there alone for half of the delivery and had to manually rupture the kitten sacks and clean off the babies, because she wasn’t able to even lift her head very much. Five kittens were delivered in about 2 hours, then about an hour later a smaller sixth one was delivered. it wasn’t until the 17th that mama Nyx started to breath better, and for the vast portion of that time period she was sick she wasn’t eating or drinking on her own, and thus had to be hand feed with a syringe for that entire time, and the vet recommended bottle feeding the babies. So, for the last week, my wife and I have been bottle feeding and cleaning kitten butts manually every two hours. It’s been challenging on both a physical level and an emotional one, there was a point that I thought Nyx had given up, but today has given me a fair bit of hope for her. Baby #6 though isn’t doing very well and we’re not sure if it’s going to survive much longer, as it doesn’t seem to be able to swallow properly.
For this process I needed an additional webcam to keep an eye on things, and settled on a Wyze v3 camera, which is fantastic for this purpose, and I bought it nearly 100% based on the theory that I could install some official custom firmware for it that would enable RTSP, but it turns out that they’ve pulled that firmware for “reasons” that they don’t actually go into, so now I get to have a third party camera in our cat room until I can figure out the entire thing. Right now though, the camera will be as it is, because it’s doing the job I’ve asked of it, and it’s doing it surprisingly well for a $35 camera. I’m pretty sure that they’re loosing money on the hardware with the expectation that a certain % of purchases will lead to monthly revenue for subscriptions to their hosting service.

Out Today: “Still Just a Geek: An Annotated Collection of Musings”
Tags:Books, Star Trek, StarTrekBookClub.com, Wil Wheaton
Out today is another Memorial Books book, titled “Still Just a Geek: An Annotated Collection of Musings“, by Wil Wheaton.
Celebrated actor, personality, and all-around nerd, Wil Wheaton updates his memoir of collected blog posts with all new material and annotations as he reexamines one of the most interesting lives in Hollywood and fandom–and now for the first time in audio, narrated by Wil himself!
From starring in Stand by Me to playing Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation to playing himself, in his second (third?) iconic role of Evil Wil Wheaton in The Big Bang Theory, to becoming a social media supernova, Wil Wheaton has charted a career course unlike anyone else, and has emerged as one of the most popular and well respected names in science fiction, fantasy and pop culture.
Back in 2001, Wil began blogging on wilwheaton.net. Believing himself to have fallen victim to the curse of the child actor, Wil felt relegated to the convention circuit, and didn’t expect many would want to read about his random experiences and personal philosophies.
Yet, much to his surprise, people were reading. He still blogs, and now has an enormous following on social media with well over 3 million followers.
In Still Just a Geek, Wil revisits his 2004 collection of blog posts, Just a Geek, filled with insightful and often laugh-out-loud annotated comments, additional later writings, and all new material written for this publication. The result is an incredibly raw and honest memoir, in which Wil opens up about his life, about falling in love, about coming to grips with his past work, choices, and family, and finding fulfillment in the new phases of his career. From his times on the Enterprise to his struggles with depression to his starting a family and finding his passion–writing–Wil Wheaton is someone whose life is both a cautionary tale and a story of finding one’s true purpose that should resonate with fans and aspiring artists alike.

A rather pedestrian film with bad framing, a mediocre sound track, poorly done special effects, and “one take” feeling acting. That is, right up until the characters in the film directly reference 1951’s “The Thing From Another World”, which John Carpenter made an extremely well received sequel to in 1982. I didn’t see the sequel until the mid 2000’s, but that original film was the stuff of nightmares for me when I first saw it when I was around 10. One of the soon to be almost dead space adventurers is talking about how she’d seen a movie about a group of scientists in the artic that killed a walking carrot by running electricity through it until it was a crispy fried alien veggie. That suggestion was actually used and they actually almost killed their own killer alien that same way, but things don’t go exactly well. I was actually invested in the film by this point, and it’s easy for me to see where it went wrong (everything went wrong) but I can see how it started as a cool plot outline and the storyboards were likely pretty cool too, if they bothered to even make any.
Anyways, to sum it up, it’s a terrible movie, don’t watch it, but it was cool to see that “The Thing From Another World” is getting some love.

One of those films that you know is going to be bad, but ends up being pretty ok, along with guest stars that you had no idea were going to be there, but ended up being there and not being bad?
I have no clue what attracted me to this movie, but there it is, it’s a computer-phobic tale about a train that couldn’t possibly be stopped because some madman took over the control computers at headquarters, and it’s up to William Shatner and friends to save the day. Oh, you’re surprised he’s in it? I was too, because the guy’s name wasn’t on the poster, nor in the main list on IMDB. He does a suitable job as a guy on the run from the cops on a completely unrelated crime spree, just looking to do right by himself and the hot lady that he’s hitting on while on the train. There’s plenty of vamping and campy dialogue and their anti-computer stuff is a little too on the nose, but at the end of the day, this is pretty enjoyable.

Made in 2009, it’s a free spirited movie made right after Travolta’s kid died, and released right after Bernie Mac died from sarcoidosis complications; they both get appropriate dedications in the final credits. An interesting point of fact: they had to shave Robin’s chest for a few scenes of this movie, and considering I know how hairy that guy is, I can only imagine how harry that clipper room was after they were done! The basic story is that a guy (robin’s character) is starting to miss an old flame, she shows up with kids, he rolls with it, and everyone gets a seemingly factory made family movie with too many “gay dad” jokes, too many pop songs, and a resolution that’s just too sappy to even hold in my memory for longer than it took to write this review.
All that being said, on a budget of just $30m, it made $96 theatrically and another $35m on the home market.
It’s not really a recommendable movie, but if you’re either a Travolta or Williams fan, it’s not a bad distraction.
Video Category and Associated “video like” tags have been fixed
Back in like 2020, I tried to create some custom layouts for the movie trailer, video game trailer, and television trailer tags, but sometimes between then and now they broke in a way that didn’t show any errors. It wasn’t until I was fixing the Video category that I realized something was up, so now they’re all usable again AND they’re formatted in a way that makes sense for videos. No more thumbnails, it’ll look exactly like the home page, with all the moving images you can handle right there on the one page! This also goes for the Music Video tag as well, so if you’ve been jonesin’ for something to listen to, that’s a great place to start.
This update is brought to you by Baby Cat. The photo is from 2018 when she was having better days, we’re going to be going to the vet today to see why she’s been refusing to eat more than a few kibble for the last couple months.
