Trees Lounge
Tags:Alcohol, Movie Posters, Movie Reviews, Movies
Written and directed by Buscemi, this movie has no plot or moral at the end of the story, but it does join other films that let the lens linger slightly longer than usual after the final scene, ala ‘The Graduate’. There’s a ton of big names in this film, Debi Mazar, Sam Jackson, Chloe Sevigny, Carol Kane and Mark Boone Junior all make substantive appearances, but every single one of them are believable as just regular people going about their regular lives trying to reach their goals. Those goals are something that the main character doesn’t have, doesn’t know he needs them, but is constantly looking for fulfillment in a world that only gives it to people that take it.
I’m going to be going on a huge wave of movies like this, with people struggling to find their way due to either their own weaknesses or because of things they can’t control and “Trees Lounge” was a great start to that list.

Tags:Eureka, Stan Lee, Television, Television Reviews
I bought the entire blue ray set of the show “Eureka” just to have the one episode that Stan Lee guest starred it. I had watched the entire thing back when it was originally airing and really enjoyed it, so it was nice to revisit the series and remember how good it was. The show follows the standard serialized format where there’s a season long storyline that’s in every episode, but each episode also has it’s own B-story. The main one for this season was a visit to Mars, and this particular episode had a b-story of some investigative tech going haywire. Stan Lee’s part is for the visit to Mars, as they’re asking all the scientists and engineers in Eureka to make presentations about why they think they should be one of the few that go on the trip to the Red Planet. Stan plays a character that goes by “Dr Lee” and gamma radiation is mentioned, so it was well worth the $30 I spent on the series.
One day maybe I’ll rewatch the whole show, I do remember it being enjoyable at the time.

Features of dating women online
Today we will talk about online dating. Why are so many men and women increasingly getting to know each other on the World Wide Web? Why has such a communication scheme become so popular, is it worth getting acquainted on the Internet? Why do men care less and less about women in reality, preferring social networks for dating? Why do women agree to such relationships, why are they dangerous, and what are the advantages of online dating? We will discuss these and other questions today.
Many men fail to start a conversation, let alone invite a date or a full-fledged relationship. Certain difficulties are experienced by people of different ages and social status. But it is possible to solve the issue of single women dating if you use the possibilities of the Internet.
Today you can meet women at GoDateNow . But is it worth it? And what are the benefits of dating sites?
Why is it easier to meet women online?
Online dating has a lot of advantages. This method is suitable for both women and men who are looking for a partner for life or for one night. It is actively used by people of different ages and with different characters. If earlier only men with psychological problems and fears searched for women on the Internet, then modern sites are filled with self-confident guys.
So, dating women online has the following advantages:
Wide field of possibilities. Any user can find a partner for a variety of purposes. Someone just needs an interlocutor, someone is looking for sex, others are looking for the woman of their dreams. Each person gets the opportunity to satisfy their needs quickly and at no extra cost.
Large selection of candidates. In real life, not everyone has the opportunity to choose. On the Internet, there are many profiles of suitable girls who are open to communication and relationships.
More chance of success. Since you can start chatting with several girls at once, there is always a chance of success. Dating sites give you the opportunity to make mistakes, correct your mistakes and get what you need.
An equally important point is the ability to carefully consider every word. In real communication, it is not always possible to control the conversation. With correspondence on online dating sites, the opposite is true. You can weigh every word before you start communication.
What can go wrong?
For all its undoubted advantages, dating girls on the Internet has some disadvantages. Going from the virtual plane to the real one is not always easy. If from the very beginning of the correspondence there were exaggerations and embellishments, a meeting in reality may turn out to be a disappointment.
There is also a risk of falling into the hands of scammers. They can lure money, gifts, etc. You can avoid this if you carefully choose a dating site and stop communicating if the interlocutor tries to find out personal data.

Sickness and Surgeries
Man I have had a doozy of a week.
Jury Summons for the middle of March!
The timer button on my stove is now completely broken and it’s going to like $200 to fix the stupid thing, so it’s going to remain broken. I’d rather buy a whole new stove with convection abilities than have to struggle along with this crap.
Went to a softball game and ate too much stadium food and drank too many beers, it was a very fun event.
I bought my wife flowers!
My favorite and only mobile game is shutting down the mobile part of the game. Not sure what I’m going to do with myself if not playing this.
Last Thursday I was hospitalized because I ate lunch, then started having chest pains and felt like my heart was skipping beats all over the place and that it was stopping at times, which made me have a panic attack, which made the feeling even worse, which made me panic even more. Turns out that I was experiencing Premature Ventricular Contractions which are exceedingly common and shouldn’t cause any sort of major issues if that’s the only thing you’re experiencing. Turns out that wasn’t all I was experiencing though, I have super high blood pressure, which I’m addressing with drugs.
The lowest BP that I’ve been able to hit since coming home from the hospital. Doc just doubled my BP meds, so we’ll see what the next week brings.
Two of my 5 cats doing cat stuff on my futon, which they consider their personal cat bed.

I really wanted to finish this, but I just couldnt’ get through the modified version of the show that came after the first few tv movies and they swapped out the main lead actress. Not that it was the actress that was the problem, but it was the writing that just changed course completely and went from a edgy unique science fiction to standard tv science fiction meant for general audiences.
Maybe one day I’ll watch the rest of the show, but it won’t be for a while.

The Cycle: Frontier on Steam
A fantastic shooter with an appealing world, some really great game loops, all completely ruined by the fact that high level griefers routinely hang out in the noobie zone to snip them from across the board with one shot. I’m never going to stand a chance in a game where a level 80 epic geared enemy can see 20x the distance that I can and can do 500x the damage that my starter gear can handle. Maybe I’ll revisit this is they’re an announcement of level restrictions, or maybe some rebalancing, but for now this goes into the “nice but not for me” pile of rejected games.
Oblivion Song

I stopped buying single comics that didn’t have “Star Trek” in their title right as this series was wrapping up and I just finally got the time to read through the final couple issues, and boy howdy do I wish I had stuck with the series when it was being published, just so I could have taken part in the discussions that were happening at the time about the resolution of the story. It ends about how I expected it to, now that I’ve seen how Kirkman ends his stories, in that he doesn’t seem to want to have finality at the end of the series, but instead wants a sense that the story continues on without us as an audience, though several pages are dedicated to catching up with the main characters several years down the line. This is less of a complaint than it is an observation, as I’m perfectly happy with the entire series, including how it concluded. There’s three tradepaper backs out now that collect the entire thing, so if you have the opportunity, I’d highly suggest checking it out.

Cosmic horror done right, this is a fast paced page turning adventure into fear itself, with some mind blowing visuals and concepts that were somewhat familiar, but in a pleasantly horrifying new way. I do have a lot of world building questions, but I was completely satisfied with how the story was structured and resolved.

What to do if an essay is not written?
Students who decide to go to college are most often very responsible for their studies in general and homework in particular. But for sure, during your studies, there was such a period when you were completely not up to your classes, many homework assignments were not completed, and the essays were not written. The reasons may be different; someone got a new part-time job, someone got sick, and someone fell in love. Actually, the reason is not very important. Much more important is to find a way and a solution to this problem. What to do if time passes and the essay is not written?
Don’t freak out.
This is probably an essential piece of advice since many people get nervous, freak out, and wind themselves up to the point where they lose the ability to think logically. And this will come in handy because there are no hopeless situations. You must evaluate your strengths and understand whether you are able to complete the task on your own or not. If your answer is “yes”, then read the next paragraph, but if you understand that you can’t do it yourself, then in this case, you need to find a writing service. We recommend that you take a responsible approach to choosing this service because your assessment depends on their professional qualities. So be sure to read the reviews; for example, if you go to writepaperfor.me reviews, you can be confident that by contacting them, you will receive a quality essay on time and with full disclosure of the topic.
Start from the beginning.
If you still decide to write an essay yourself, then, for starters, you just need to start writing. Even if it sounds like a Captain Obvious phrase, it’s exactly what a lot of people don’t do. They postpone, postpone, and count every day how much time they have left, if you start today, tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow. Make a plan, select the material on the basis of which you will write your essay, and in the end, write at least a couple of sentences, and you will see how much faster everything will move forward.
Forget about endless proofreading.
Yes, grammar and spelling are very important. If we can put up with typos when we communicate online and correspond with friends in instant messengers, then they will look bad in your academic work. But this does not mean that you should sit over a paragraph of three lines for several days and check it over and over again. In pursuit of the ideal, you can lose time and not meet the deadline or overdo it with figurative expressions so that the text does not look like yours, seems artificial, and sometimes out of time or place.
Practice when you have time.
If writing an essay is always a problem for you, but you want to learn how to deal with it yourself, then try to practice. Of course, this is work for the future, and most likely, you will notice the result in a few months or maybe in a year. But if you are a freshman, then it will still help you in your studies. You can choose your own topic on the Internet and try to write an essay; you can also ask your teachers to give you topics or find interesting assignments online. For example, there are a large number of communities where various quests and marathons are held, and participants share tips on how to write well and competently.
Get rid of distractions.
Nobody knows you better than yourself. Therefore, if you know that you are easily distracted, and it is difficult for you to concentrate and tune in to work, try to do everything in your power so that various distractions do not affect your productivity. First, of course, put your phone down and try not to check all your social networks for at least a while. If you post a story about how difficult it is for you to write an essay, this will not help the writing itself, but you will spend time. The same goes for reading the news and turning on YouTube as a background while you work. You will not even notice how you will watch a story about African lions or sing along to some song and again forget about the essay. The same applies to external factors, which can also be distracting. For example, if you have loud neighbors, get some sound-absorbing headphones to help you concentrate better at work. Consider also your habits while studying and writing an essay. If you need a particular drink and snack, do not be lazy; buy them in advance and with a margin to deprive yourself of a reason to go to the store and, once again, postpone the task.
Teen Titans GO! To the Movies
Tags:Awesome Things, Comic Books, Movie Reviews, Movies, Teen Titans Go
This remains one of the best DC movies that I’ve seen in the last 10 years, from the perfect soundtrack to Stan Lee appearing not once, but twice, to deadpool not being in it (maybe?) and this being just a trailer or another movie that I think I’ve seen but can’t remember anything about.
Indoor Cat
Tags:book covers, Book Reviews, Books, Cats
A well written book, if a little light on solutions or suggestions, with plenty of great pictures of cats. I believe they’ve coined a phrase in “Felis interius” to refer to cats that are born inside, then live their entire lives within walls. They’re assertion, and one that I agree with, is that cats have always been semi tamed animals that made a choice to live with humans due to our associated comforts and ample food that seems to come with us, either pests like rodents or direct feeding. We’re still in the extreme early days of having cats inside full time, as it was only in 1947 that kitty litter was invented, so prior to that if you wanted a cat in your life, kitty had to be indoor / outdoor due to needing to poop. Now days we have robotic kitty litter machines to help us along. I was surprised to realize that we’re still only about 75 years from the point that we gained the technology to keep them out of the elements, and all the enrichment that being out there would lead to.
I disagree with their ultimate solution, which is to let them outside in either supervised or leashed situations, but there are plenty of other good suggestions on giving your indoor cat a fuller life. I was prompted to buy this because one of the cats in my house has developed a nervous tick of squinting one eye, then promptly over grooming his entire undercarriage. As I write this he’s staring out the the back window watching the rain come down, but he looks absolutely ridiculous with skinny legs and a fluffy back. I’m going to be building out some shelves for the cats to run up and down in my living room, and I’ve already spoken to my wife about building some sort of cat patio (catio!) for them to more fully envelop themselves in the sights and sounds of nature.
2022 TGIOKDI Year In Review
Tags:Interesting, Year In Review
Looks like I’m a few days late on my 2022 break down, no reason for the delay other than I started it, saved the draft, then went about my life oblivious to the fact I never finished writing. 2022 was a year of beginnings and a couple endings for me. February saw my wife going back to the office due to the Governor wanting good press for himself, where she was promptly infected with covid, which I then caught. At this point we had both of the main shots and I believe a booster, so while it sucked, it sucked much less than it could have. I’ll still hold a grudge against the idiot governor though, he was reckless in ordering so many people back into a shared office environment and he’s personally responsible for me getting the virus.
It was about a month after the infection that we did one more round of IVF, which failed to produce any results, so we’ve given up on having children. It’s tough to write that, but it is what it is. Right after we got this news we decided that it was time to start re-entering the general public because we had all the boosters, we had been infected, and honestly we were just done with being safe or smart about the viral situation, so caution was thrown to the wind and we went to a Chinese buffet. It was a good meal, but a very weird sensation, being in public and eating without any kind of mask on for the first time in nearly 2 years.
In May, one of my cats passed after a slow decline, so while it wasn’t an unexpected situation, it still sucked. It was right around that time too that we had another foster cat (Nyx!) who had six kittens, but only had three survive (one of whom had a odd coughing problem due to malformed lungs…we foster failed with her, so now she’s part of the cat colony forever).
The sense of not having control of my life was compounded by my employer making some business consolidations, with hundreds of people being severanced in the prior year or so, and looking at the labor market made me made some decision about making some educational efforts. I never did finish my degree back when I was in college the first time around back in 1999-2002, so Summer 2022 I started online courses, which I’m about half way through at this point, with classes starting back up next week. I’m planning on being done by the end of summer 2023, but ultimately it’s going to be an expensive piece of paper that won’t inform or guaranty a job, but at least I feel like I’m doing something about my situation instead of just being a backseat rider to all the crazy stuff going on in my personal life or with the American economy in general.
Over that summer, I finally have nickeled and dimed myself to having a pretty decent twitch streaming setup, then got my first few payments from the twitch too! It was like $50 for a year’s worth of streaming, but it made me feel great about putting a fish tank on the twitch.
In July, I reorganized my home office, hiding all my comic long boxes behind a bookshelf in my closet, so you can’t see all the cardboard, but I know they’re still there. I looks so much better now, I’m considering doing the same thing to the other side of the closet, so it’ll look like it’s just one big bookcase on that wall.
In 2021 I thought I’d start putting some grass in my front yard, which the first step was raking all the leaves and detritus that had accumulated in the prior ten years since I last raked it. I finished that project and actually put down some seed, most of which was washed away in the rain, but some of it stayed and now it’s actually growing and it’s actually green! I need to get back out there and rake again, but I’m impressed that it was that easy in what I actually had to do. Bagging all that stuff up into 40+ bags was really not much fun, but the end result is great. Now maybe I’ll do the same thing for my bag yard?

War of the Bounty Hunters Omnibus
Tags:Boba Fett, Book Reviews, Books, Comic Books, Comic Covers, Star Wars
I bought all these single issues back when they were released in 2021, bagged and boarded them, then put them in a “to be read” pile on my desk. I’ve finally dug deep enough into that pile to read through them and what I found was a Star Wars story that could have been told in just 5 issues, but Marvel chose to do what Marvel does and released 25+ issues of various issues ranging from duplicate content from a different POV to issues with art and story that were so good that it’s a shame it wasn’t in the mainline mini series. It was a fun read and I was able to get through it in a single day, but I think I could have taken a week or so to just soak in the art.
