Hurricane Idalia
Tags:Florida, hurricanes
Thus far we’re doing ok, but my nerves are starting to get a little on edge. The county has issued mandatory evacuation orders for mobile / manufactured homes, all our local rivers are already cresting near historic peaks, and the storm is still about 10 hours away from actually getting to my small blue dot on the map. We have all our provisions ready, all our batteries are charged, extra propane has been acquired, and the armory is fully stocked, so we’ll be able to fight off the hurricane gators and sharks that will usually try to sneak into the backyard.
Interestingly enough, there’s a couple forecast models that show this stupid storm going across the state, then looping right back around and hitting us again. Here’s hoping that won’t be the case and we’ll be just fine.

A look at the formative years of superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as he grows up through life.
This was ultimately the final season of the show, but what a great season it was. The story set in the future was pretty mediocre, but the stuff in the past was fantastic. I’ll always be grateful to the show for introducing me to both Stacey Leilua and Joseph Lee Anderson who played The Rock’s parents.

Exploring Modern Alternatives to Traditional Tobacco Cigarettes
The realm of traditional tobacco cigarettes harbors a multitude of detrimental elements, encompassing nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide and an array of carcinogenic compounds. These constituents pose a grave threat to the body, capable of inflicting substantial harm over time. Unsurprisingly, smoking tobacco cigarettes is a notorious precursor to preventable afflictions like lung cancer, cardiovascular ailments, strokes and respiratory disorders.
Amidst this alarming panorama, individuals are fervently seeking viable alternatives to liberate themselves from the clutches of these harmful habits. Below, we unveil the most promising options available to those who aspire to bid adieu to tobacco smoke.
CBD Vaping: A Breath of Fresh Air
Among the most compelling alternatives, Cbd Vape emerges as a superior contender due to its stark departure from the hazardous combustion of plant materials. Unlike traditional tobacco smoking, CBD vaping circumvents the generation of noxious smoke and tar that poses dire threats to lung health. The traditional counterpart, marked by the release of toxic chemicals and carcinogens, remains culpable for a plethora of health adversities, including the ominous specter of lung cancer and respiratory ailments.
Apart from this marked safety distinction, CBD vaping with Delta 8 Carts boasts the advantage of precise dosage management. Traditional tobacco cigars often obfuscate the quantification of nicotine inhalation, a precarious scenario primed for fostering addiction. Conversely, CBD vaping empowers users with the ability to select varying concentrations of CBD, granting meticulous control over intake.
Nicotine Patches: A Gradual Path to Liberation
For those striving to sever ties with tobacco’s grip, nicotine patches assume prominence as an efficacious choice. Operating on the premise of controlled nicotine release, these patches present a gradual and regulated manner of administering nicotine to the body. This method proves instrumental in alleviating the withdrawal symptoms and cravings that invariably beset individuals endeavoring to break free from smoking.
A pivotal advantage of nicotine patches resides in their ability to furnish nicotine sans the noxious chemical brew harbored within cigarettes. This mechanism serves as a catalyst in mitigating health risks associated with conventional smoking. Additionally, the patches circumvent the ritual of smoking breaks and the social cues that often sabotage the quit-smoking process altogether. Their unobtrusive design enables discreet usage under clothing, allowing users to forge ahead without attracting attention.
Conclusion
As the dire implications of traditional tobacco smoking continue to loom, the quest for healthier alternatives escalates. Amidst this pursuit, CBD vaping and nicotine patches surface as transformative options, each harnessing distinctive attributes to empower individuals in their journey toward liberation.
CBD vaping exemplifies a smoke-free realm of relaxation and control, while nicotine patches furnish a gradual transition that curbs cravings and withdrawal. The modern landscape of alternatives shines a beacon of hope for those who aspire to break free from the shackles of tobacco’s pernicious grasp.
“The Mother” Review
Tags:Jennifer Lopez, Movie Posters, Movie Reviews, Movies
I have to assume that Lopez likes making these types of revenge / protector type of films, she’s starred in a few of them by now and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. “The Mother” isn’t a half bad film, but it definitely follows a familiar storyline that I’m familiar and tired with. The soundtrack makes up for the lack of a unique plot and honestly the action and special effects are serviceable with the exception of one motorcycle scene that felt like the motorcycle was on a trailer, which if you know how those scenes are made, it was.
It’s on Netflix and isn’t a waste of time to watch, which sounds like faint praise, but since it’s Netflix you really do have to say that.

Some Desperate Glory

I’ve long thought that the military science fiction genre that I’m so deeply in love with has an issue with diversity in it’s author lineup, with 10/10 of the authors that I’ve read in that space being men, so starting back about 10 years ago I thought I’d just pick up the next book written by someone other than a dude, and boy howdy and I here to tell you that Emily Tesh absolutely hit it out of the park with this one. The basic premise is a familiar one, there was a war, one side lost, but not everyone on the losing side has accepted their fate and are struggling to find a victory in their defeat. Nearly exactly at the 50% mark of the book though the story gets turned from a familiar post-apocalyptic military science fiction space adventure into something even more in vogue in recent movie successes. I won’t get into the gory details, but I’m happy with this implementation of the story elements and can happily recommend it to anyone that’s been a fan of the military scifi stories by John Scalzi or Marko Kloos.
“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” Review
Tags:Mission: Impossible, Movie Posters, Movie Reviews, Movies
Ethan Hunt and his IMF team must track down a dangerous weapon before it falls into the wrong hands.
I didn’t enjoy watching this movie at all, but I’m not sure if it’s because I wasn’t able to see it in Dolby Digital, or because there were 5 people in the same row as me that were either on their phones the whole time or were just straight up talking to each other about random nonsense. There was also one lady with a 50 piece charm bracelet that got up twice during the film that sounded like she had bells on and she walked slooooow. The guy that I was immediately sitting next to was great, no talking, no phone at all, but the dude next to him was there with his kids and was letting them play with their phones / tablets all during the film and he was on his own phone too. At one point the good seatmate next to me straight up took the phone from the other guy’s hands and turned it off, something that completely freaked me out but I supported on a fundamental level, but I’ve read way too many stories lately here in my state about people either shooting or fighting other patrons for far less things than that. Most of the time I was not enjoying myself or was hyper aware of the people in the theater
The movie itself I have some complicated feelings about. The action, soundtrack, cinematography, and actors with their acting are all great and I have no complaints about them at all. I love everyone here, but the plot is a worn out retread of a story that I’ve seen in nearly every season of Star Trek since I was a kid and has been bouncing around Hollywood since Hollywood first learned what a computer was and by now I’m just weary of anything remotely talking about technology taking over the planet, even if it’s in a franchise like Mission: Impossible. There’s a few quibbles I have that on the surface feel small but I think might be a larger issue with what they’re actually trying to do in the film. I don’t want to get to spoilerish about my complaint though, but just know that submarines can’t receive radio signals when they’re underwater and the radio signals they DO get at shallow depths wouldn’t support the kinds of data feeds that are at work here in Part One of the “Dead Reckoning” story.
This is also the second movie I’ve seen in the last month that featured a fight on top of a train, which is an odd trope to resurrect.

Top 5 Movies That Perfectly Capture the College Student Experience
Photo by Vlada Karpovich on Pexels
College life is a unique stage that provides opportunities, challenges, and opportunities for self-discovery along with an emotional roller coaster. From memorable parties to late-night study sessions, college experiences frequently have an impact on students’ lives for the rest of their lives. Films do a particularly good job of capturing these various aspects of college life, which can also evoke nostalgia or a sense of identification with the characters and situations. Keep reading to learn about five movies that have successfully captured the experience of being a college student while still appealing to a global audience.
-
“Animal House” (1978)
The wild and carefree college experience is perfectly captured in the classic comedy “Animal House.” The early 1960s are the setting for this John Landis film, which follows the misadventures of a bunch of oddball fraternity brothers at Faber College.
With characters like Bluto (John Belushi) and the charismatic but impulsive Otter (Tim Matheson), “Animal House” exemplifies the sense of camaraderie and rebellion that frequently characterizes college life. Despite the exaggerated and chaotic scenes, the movie is successful in capturing the spirit of youthful exuberance and the desire to rebel against authority during this transformative stage of life. Hire the best academized writers to get your college assignments done while enjoying your favorite movies.
-
“Good Will Hunting” (1997)
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are the directors and writers of the gripping drama “Good Will Hunting,” which follows the struggles of a young janitor and undiscovered genius named Will Hunting (Matt Damon). This film is set at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). With the help of his therapist, Sean Maguire (Robin Williams), Will embarks on a journey of self-realization in the movie, which explores themes of identity, personal development, and the importance of intellectual curiosity.
-
“The Social Network” (2010)
David Fincher’s gripping biographical drama “The Social Network,” starring Jesse Eisenberg, charts the rise of Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg. The movie provides an intriguing look into the entrepreneurial spirit that frequently inspires college students. In order to reflect the competitive environment that can exist in a college setting, the movie explores the complexities of friendships, betrayals, and the competitive business world. To enjoy the movie, make sure you find the best writers to hire to complete your assignments on time and with flying colors.
-
“Dead Poets Society” (1989)
Peter Weir’s moving and thought-provoking film “Dead Poets Society” is set in a traditional prep school exclusively for boys. English teacher John Keating (Robin Williams) inspires his students to embrace their individuality and pursue their passions through poetry and literature. The film deftly captures the influence a committed teacher can have on students’ lives. In “Dead Poets Society,” which emphasizes the value of challenging the status quo, developing critical thinking skills, and forming meaningful connections, the college experience is reflected.
-
“Superbad” (2007)
Greg Mottola, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg’s raunchy coming-of-age comedy “Superbad” hilariously capture the essence of friendship and the insecurities of adolescence. In the film, best friends Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) are seen attempting to partake in a legendary party before splitting up for college. In their final weeks of high school, they set out on a wild adventure. The movie does a good job of capturing the excitement and worries that college-bound students frequently experience as they make the transition into adulthood, despite the fact that the story takes place in high school.
Bottom Line
Being a college student is an up-and-down, successful, and unsuccessful journey. These five movies—”Animal House,” “Good Will Hunting,” “The Social Network,” “Dead Poets Society,” and “Superbad”—each presents a unique perspective on a different aspect of college life. The essence of what it means to be a college student is expertly captured in these films, from wild parties and rebellious adventures to profound introspection and personal growth.

I bought this under the assumption that the marketing material that mentioned this young girl lived with a cult that fully believed the happenings of Star Trek had actually happened in some way meant that Trek was going to be more than just a one panel side comment. It’s a great book though and tells a great story, just not as related to Trek as I was hoping for.
Bonus points for having a glow in the dark cover!
Tron

I found this brand new at Best Buy for just $4, so I figured it was time to add the blu-ray to my collection. I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve owned it, and other than a commemorative laserdisc I have up on a shelf, it doesn’t look like I’ve owned a watchable copy before. Sure I have it on digital, but do you ever actually really own any of that digital stuff?
The film still holds up of course, it’s still a product of it’s time, with stars that were firmly entrenched in the Disney machine, but it has some pretty solid concepts that would show up in hundreds of films after, including just a single sequel decades later. There’s a ton of behind the scenes stuff that goes into the making of the film that’s super interesting and is as interesting as the movie itself.
Titans Season 4

A good ending for an ok series that never really hit the highs that I had hoped for, but never hit the lows that many other comic shows have fallen to recently. I was particularly impressed with the end of the Brother Blood storyline and the specifics of how his plan was actually enacted. And his costume, he had a dope cape.

Submission system is now 100% working (maybe)
I’m pretty sure that I now have the bespoke submission form working the way that god intended.
How to use it?
Step 1: visit the Space you want to contribute to.
Step 2: find the words in the sidebar that say “Click Here Add A Post”, click it!
Step Three: Fill out the form, if you want to add a image and have permission to do so from everyone necessary to do so, then do so
Step D: look for a link to your content in the sidebar right under the “Click Here Add A Post”. I’m not entirely happy that you’re not immediately redirected to that post after submission, so that’ll likely happen after I work on the 20,000 other things that are on my “must do” list for the launch of this “Space” project.
Part V: Tell me here on this post if you see anything that’s broken or needs to be changed in your most humble opinion.
Enjoy this music video, I was actually looking for the “Star Man” but they were the top result for “SpaceMan” and it’s not a half bad song:
PS should I let people vote on which aspect of the project is worked on next and how quickly it’s done?

Spaces Are Here
You know how there’s a few sites out there that seem to be falling apart because of their narcissistic leaders or their inane IPO potentials? No fear of that happening here, but we welcome their refugees!
Now, combine that with how broken the submissions system has been on this site, then combine that with the fact that we’ve had the ability to create subsites for nearly a decade, but never took advantage of that potentiality.
That time is now! That time is here! Now just log in and you can either find a space and post content to your heart’s desire, or create your own space and then post to your hearts desire. The concept is a little like reddit, where whoever runs the space is in charge of the content that’s in there
There’s still an absolute ton of work left to be done here and this is just the beginning, but I’d like to think it’s a great start to something that’s honestly been a long time coming. Have suggestions or ideas? say something in the comments on this post.

I have no idea why this was in my “to watch” list, I really need to start keeping better notes. Sure it’s got Jennifer Connelly in it, and I do love her to death, but this is a weird slasheresque science fiction film that never answers most of it’s pressing questions and I think we’re better off because of it.
The Batman
Tags:Batman, Comic Books, Movie Reviews, Movies, The Batman
I still feel that the first half of this movie is a complete snooze fest and the soundtrack, specifically the hero track, is overly repetitive and annoying as all get out. Also, everything about the Riddler made me loose interest in the move every time they were talking about his stupid rhymes, jokes, or holiday cards. In fact, I think you could rip the entire Riddler portion of the movie out and still have a pretty ok film with just the Penguin / Wayne / Arkham storyline.
Which brings me to what I did like, which was everything related to the Penguin, Catwoman, the family shenanigans, and even Batman himself. It would have been easy to go to far into the brooding “barely out of his teens” Batman first earning the ropes, but Robert Pattinson did a surprisingly good job as the character, same with Colin Farrell as Penquin and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, both of whom are now my favorite versions of those characters. Additionally, I’m a huge Batmobile nerd and this version of the car really does it for me, it’s the appearance of this suped up car that’s when I feel the movie really starts to kick, though that’s about an hour in.
