“Greta” Review

This is maybe one of Moretz’s best roles and that’s coming from a guy that’s tried to watch everything she’s been in. There’s some real plot movement that happens from the first moments of the film that never stop building on the tension and anxiety of knowing that something bad is going to happen, then when it does happen, wondering when or how the other shoe is going to drop. In fact, things get started so early in the film I nearly though it was going to be an entirely different type of film, and while it doesn’t become the supernatural spook fest it had the possibility to be, it cruises right up to the very limits of a believable story, never tripping over that thin line.
If you’re a fan of Alfred Hitchcock style suspense stories and you haven’t seen this yet, I bet you’d enjoy this delightfully horrific ride.

Using Historical Data to Improve Your Betting Predictions
Using Historical Data to Improve Your Betting Predictions
Any successful betting strategy should be based on historical data. Data and statistics will make it possible for you to base your future predictions on the events of the past. Keep reading to learn more about how you can incorporate historical data into your betting strategy.
One of the best ways to start optimizing your betting predictions is to start incorporating historical data in your strategy. Historical data sheds light on the past. You get insight into the statistics, such as goals scored, shorts on target, rebounds, etc., in various constellations. And as it is, the past has got a lot to say about what’s going to happen in the future. This is why you can make good use of historical data to increase your chances of predicting the future accurately. The best sports betting sites, like Betway, are a great place to do initial research and stay updated on the latest news. You can also find information regarding betting lines and pertinent details about specific matches or events. Besides historical data, the latest news is the other most important thing to always keep in mind when placing your bets.
Examples of Historical Data
Historical data can be many different things. Often, it’s stats like player and team statistics. These induce various metrics like rebounds, assists, point scores, goals scored, passing accuracy and others, depending on the sport you’re looking at. It could also be by head-to-head records where you’re looking into the results of two players or teams and comparing their previous performances against each other. The relevant historical data depends on the sport you want to bet on and the type of bet you’re placing. Other common historical data are match statistics, league tables and rankings.
How to Utilize the Data
When you’re getting ready to analyze the data in order to make use of it, there are several ways to go about it. You can easily use machine learning and statistical models to help you process the data. These technologies use all kinds of data to help you predict various outcomes. They make use of different models, such as logistic regression, neural networks and decision trees. The logistic regression analysis is a technique that compares several variables to identify the factors that have the strongest impact on a specific result. Then there’s decision tree learning, which identifies patterns and relationships between factors and bases predictions on that.
The Limitations of Historical Data
Just like anything else, the use of historical data in your betting strategy should be based on a principle of balance. You can’t base your predictions entirely on what has happened previously. Otherwise, there would be no such thing as betting or even sports. Unforeseen events will obviously happen, which is something you should always take into account. Some unexpected events could be sudden changes in weather, injuries, or red cards.
Other limitations to using historical data are the quality and quantity of the available data. Your analysis is limited to the data that your model had at the time. All in all, you can make your predictions a lot more accurate by using the great tool that is historical data. Your analyses will be able to provide insight that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to incorporate into your predictions. Be aware of the many ways that you can utilize historical data in your strategy and keep in mind the few but significant limitations that it brings with it. Be sure to check out Betway for the best betting lines, develop a well-thought-out strategy with a good portion of common sense and a sensible bankroll management practice, and you’re ready to start becoming much more successful.

“Clerks” Review

Space Tags:Movie Reviews
It had been a minute since I’ve seen this and they had it on Paramount+, so I guess I’m starting another Kevin Smith marathon? Maybe just the Clerks stuff this time around and not all the films. This is the first of them though and it’s as rough as a movie can be, but shows that with a solid script that has real world connections you can make something that’s both entertaining and can stand the test of time. There’s a couple usages of the F word that shock me every time I hear them, but back when this was filmed that word was dropped all the time in unpolite circles. I wonder if Mr Smith has ever commented on the usage of the words and the homophobic leaning comments in his scripts. I think he’s completely pulled away from it, though there’s still some ambiguity about the sexuality of both Jay and Silent Bob.
I don’t think I even (legally) haves access to everything he’s directed, something I want to work on, but it’s a slow process.

The Superhero’s Son Omnibus Volume 1: Books 1-3 (The Superhero’s Son Omnibus Series)
Tags:Book Reviews, Books
Seventeen-year-old Kevin Jason starts his first day at his new school by unintentionally punching the local bully through the cafeteria wall. When Kevin’s father, a legendary superhero, learns of this, he insists on training Kevin to master his new powers, though Kevin finds his father’s training methods a lot less exciting than he thought they were going to be.
But Kevin’s training takes on new urgency when the local bully’s father—Master Chaos, one of the world’s most dangerous supervillains—breaks out of prison and declares Kevin his new archenemy for harming his son.
Now Kevin must complete his training as a superhero before Master Chaos arrives. If Kevin doesn’t complete his training in time, then all of the power in the world won’t be able to keep him and his family safe from the madman who wants him dead.
Contains the following books:
The Superhero’s Test
The Superhero’s Team
The Superhero’s Summit
One more set of stories from The Superhero Spectacular Book Bundle that I bought back in May, this is a collection of the first three stories in the “Superhero’s Son” series by Lucas Flint, and as a freshman effort, they’re pretty good with some clear improvements in dialogue and scripting from the first story to the third one, but I’d not suggest start with these if you’re going to read anything by the author, because while I was happy to see his abilities grow, it was still a somewhat awkward experience. There’s also some odd political stuff injected into the story with a heroic MAGA figure vs an evil Bernie Sanders style politician, along with a few “oops I killed the bad guys but I don’t feel too bad about it” situations that didn’t make me feel great about reading the stories.

This year’s HORROR MARATHON is starting with the first “Haunted Mansion film from 2003 with Eddie Murphy, it takes itself serious enough that some of the scares are legitimate enough, but remembers that it’s based off a Disney walking simulator, so there’s nothing that’s going to make you poop your pants in terror. The special effects still hold up and the only thing that’s slightly out of place is Eddie’s method of intentional over the top acting that I seem to have lost my taste for.

A short look at the actors that played captains on the various Star Trek series, all through the lens of the first captain, William Shatner. His interviews range from the surreal with Avery Brooks to the emotional with Patrick Stewart to a friendly chat with the extremely personable Scott Bacula, then an apparent reverse interview with Kate Mulgrew. It’s all well done and much more than I thought it was going to be able to deliver.
There’s a mini series by the same name that I also have access to, I’m really looking forward to seeing that too!

USS Khai Tam Technical Orientation Manual
Tags:Awesome Things, Book Reviews, Books, Star Trek
True story this is the “home ship” of the local Star Trek fan club that I belong to, not that they make it easy to find them, they don’t actually mention my home town on their website or facebook group and don’t even mention that they’re a Trek fan group. The international association at the head of the entire organization uses a starship based naming scheme with every group having their own Home Ship, the USS Khai Tam being the name for this group. A few years ago (20? I need to ask) someone with design and editing chops decided to make their own technical manual for the ship and this is the final result. It’s a great book when compared to other fan group publications and I’d say it even holds its own when compared to the official technical manuals. I’m of the opinion that while the concept of the ship is great, the final execution is goofy looking and I think I would need to see it in some 3d space battles before I change my mind on that front.
Cool piece of fandom!

A teenage Tony Stark battles evil with his revolutionary power armor technology.
I added this to my D+ watch list back in 2022 based solely on some Reddit comments on how “hard” the main theme “slaps”:
The theme does indeed go hard for a kid’s cartoon and is catchy enough to remain in my mind rent free for longer than I’m happy to admit. Originally airing back in 2008, both of the seasons are now fully on D+ and complete a full story arc of Tony’s loss of his father to him becoming the super hero we all know him to be, all while trying to navigate his time in high school. Episodes range from pretty ok to pretty damn good and the animation style is visually interesting, especially when they start featuring opponents like the Living Laser or MODOK.
As an aside, back in February about six months ago, I had a health scare that resulted in me needing to lose a fair bit of weight and get to be more active in a relatively quick time frame. My choice of torture was the treadmill that was sitting fallow in our tiny home gym / wife’s office / cat room / storage room, and this was the first show in my entire life that I watched completely from the ever increasing incline and speed of the treadmill deck. When I started the show I was doing 0% incline at 2mph for the full 25 minute episode length and worked my way up to 9% incline at 3mph. I’ve been stuck there for about a month and I’ve definitely watched other stuff from the treadmill vantage point, but I’m super proud of both my loss of 70 pounds and increase in activity level from pretty much nothing (under 1k steps a day on average) to pretty much something (6k+ steps a day).
Now I’m at a loss on what show to move onto next, 25 minutes is the perfect length for me on the machine, as it gives me the 25 minute workout then about five minutes on pandora to cool down. Maybe another animated show?
5 Things You Should Know Before Using CBD Products
URL: unsplash.com/photos/SIs-SVll2EY
The use of CBD has highly increased in recent years. According to the recent Gallup poll, 64% of US adults use cannabidiol for pain, anxiety, and insomnia. CBD is usually covered in the media, and you might see it advertised as the latest and best wellness product.
Today, you can easily buy CBD products over the counter, online, or even at your local grocery store. However, here are a few things you need to know about CBD products before incorporating them into your health routine.
-
Using CBD can have some side effects
Studies show that CBD is safe to consume even on a regular basis. No severe gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, or neurological effects have been reported. However, according to a recent FDA report, CBD products are not risk-free and have possible side effects.
The most common side effects linked with CBD are diarrhea, fatigue and drowsiness, change in mood and nausea. It can also raise the amount of blood thinning medicines and other drugs in your body by battling for the liver enzymes that break down these medications. Fortunately, these side effects are uncommon and often mild.
-
CBD is legal in most states
Since hemp-derived CBD contains not more than 0.3% of THC, it’s legal to sell and buy across most of the United States. This is due to the passage of the 2014 Agricultural Act and the 2018 Farm Bill, which differentiated between hemp and marijuana.
-
CBD has health benefits
While scientists are still learning about how CBD can affect the body, the FDA has approved it for use on specific seizure disorders. Most cannabiods, including CBD and THCA cannabinoid, have also been found to alleviate pain and anxiety and help in better sleep. Other conditions that CBD may be effective for include reducing inflammation that results from exercise and daily activities and alleviating mood.
-
CBD products might be a better option than smoking marijuana
CBD comes in a wide range of products, such as topical creams and patches. However, oil is the most prevalent and a good place to start since it’s very shelf stable and easy to take. Consuming CBD is also safer than smoking marijuana since it prevents the damage that can be caused to your respiratory tissues.
-
CBD can’t get you high
There is a misconception that CBD can be psychotropic or give the user a “high” feeling, which is false. CBD doesn’t possess the psychoactive properties of the drug found in marijuana. It’s derived from cannabis sativa and products made from plant parts and extracts, such as flowers, and contains less than 0.3% THC. However, CBD-infused products may be psychoactive if they contain THC, the compound predominantly responsible for the “high” effect.
Endnote
CBD is a chemical, whether the effects are therapeutic or more. Therefore, do your due diligence before trying any CBD product and ensure you get it from a trusted source, such as a state-run hospital. You should also consult your doctor to be sure that it won’t affect other medicines you take. While CBD is fairly safe, there are always potential risks for interaction with other medications.
