Star Trek: Prodigy Season 1 Part 1

Star Trek: Prodigy: Created by Dan Hageman, Kevin Hageman. With Rylee Alazraqui, Dee Bradley Baker, Brett Gray, Angus Imrie. A group of enslaved teenagers steal a derelict Starfleet vessel to escape and explore the galaxy.

It’s only the first 10 episodes, but what a great set of episodes they are! There’s a ton of really weird stuff going on in the real world about the show’s future, but for my money this is some of the best Trek out there.

    Deep Impact

Deep Impact: Directed by Mimi Leder. With Robert Duvall, Téa Leoni, Elijah Wood, Vanessa Redgrave. A comet is discovered to be on a collision course with Earth. As doomsday nears, the human race prepares for the worst.

This is a good film to capture the technology and way people were living right before the turn of the millenium, with the news of a giant comet heading towards earth not being known because there were internet problems at the observatory and the pop3 email box wouldn’t load, so the scientist plopped the data onto a 3.5 inch floppy and was driving down the road to send it from an internet cafe….but was run off the road when a truck heading UP the mountain drifted from it’s lane. Why was a truck even doing driving up a barren mountain late at night? Those observatories are usually pretty remote and wouldn’t need that sort of traffic.

There were actually two films with this same type of concept that came out in 1998, this was the more series of the two, the other being Armageddon, a perfectly fine film with a gorgeous soundtrack, but filled with humor and concepts that were just goofy as all get out. For my money, Deep Impact is the better of the two when you want a series apocalyptic storyline.

The Supreme Court Doesn’t Care That the Gay Wedding Website Case Is Based on Fiction

It still feels unnerving to some, even those caught in the crossfire, to see injuries invented wholesale and lies accepted by the highest court in the land.
