What do the founding fathers have to do with the pledge of allegiance? It was written in 1892: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Then changed in 1924, to "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Changed again in 1954, to "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The founding fathers and their beliefs are irrelevant.
