If you have not yet, I would recommend "All Systems Red" by Martha Wells. The first one is really short, so if you do not like the world, not much invested. Really fun character studies.

This is one I wanted to like, but like you, found that the sci-fi explanations just did not hold up to basic scrutiny. That on top of almost every twist being predictable, and the ending being underwhelming, made me also declining to go any further into the series.

Anyone who is worried that they may pull on them and unplug. I do something similar with my plug in power tools if using an extension cord.

Is it bad that I do not hate this idea? Cut off all federal funding to Texas, withdraw the boarder patrol to New Mexico and Oklahoma, and kick all representatives from the state out of congress. Their power grid is already separate, so that would not be an issue, and Mexico has already set up that import trucking is coming through other states.

This stuff blows my mind. "Do not get the vax, which the FDA has approved. What are you, sheep? Instead, take this completely untested drug instead." Even if you think the vax was undertested, and you could make that argument, it is still better then completely untested. I just do not get it.
