Basic gun safety says never aim a gun at your ear and the guy behind you at the same time. If the chamber isn't clear you could get brains all over your fellow soldier, and that's just not nice.

I guess I should have let the guy blast away until the police got there. Considering the remote location in a very rural environment, we would have had a 45 minute wait in good weather.
