Allegedly this whale was found dead 77 miles from the spill. However, because correlation != causality one cannot assume that its death was spill related. Furthermore when you consider a sperm whale's range and diet it becomes more and more unlikely. Until there is more? any? evidence it's impossible to say what killed this whale. Blaming BP in this case (with no evidence or sources) is akin to finding a dead body in a house and jumping to the conclusion that not only was it a murder, but a mob hit. But why would anyone let critical thinking enter an emotionally charged situation? It's much easier to: ZOMG BURNED WHALE!!!1! Thanks for seeing this my way. I got into a discussion on another forum where I was accused of being a lawyer for BP because I presented evidence that the whale was not burned. I heart you guise.

This whale is not charred. Blubbery marine mammals undergoing decomposition assume a burnt appearance. Here's a link to some information about a baleen whale which washed ashore in Guinea in 2007. http://scienceblogs.com/tetrapodzoology/2010/05/conakry_monster_tubercle-technology.php - Comment on what to do if you get caught with weed (2009-08-02 07:42:52)
I've been pulled over umpteen times for many different violations (speeding, improper equipment, "random" stops, drunk-driving checkpoints) in the fifteen years that I've been a licensed driver. Never once has a cop asked to search my car. I can only speculate as to why this, but if I had to guess, it would be because I am polite, respectful and compliant. Most pot-smokers that I know inevitably start every interaction with authority by assuming that they're going to be hassled. Oddly enough, that's exactly what happens. The second impression that you make on the cop (too late for the first, you're already pulled over) will set the tone for the entire encounter. "Why are you hassling me?" or "I didn't do anything wrong." is going to prolong the unpleasantness, guaranteed. - Comment on It's Never Miller Time in Space (2009-07-20 13:29:46)

Here's something to consider: Just because you and your friends find something cool or funny does not mean that it is either of those things. - Comment on Progression of Black Music (2009-07-17 20:56:34)
I'm of the opinion that if all rap and hip-hop were flushed off the face of the earth that culture would only improve. I'd say the same thing about jazz, but that would affect the plot-lines of a few early episodes of The Simpsons and they would not make sense to future generations. - Comment on Cartoons about plugs that I drew (2009-07-17 20:51:45)
Excellent. Just, excellent. - Comment on Bullshit (2009-07-12 08:29:24)

Hey, these are a lot better than the last ones. They're a little art-school, but I think you're on the right track. If you can hit the middle ground between these ones and the previous ones I think you'll be onto something. Also, you know that people buy shit like this on a website called etsy.com, right? - Comment on The Gaslight Anthem (2009-06-24 19:07:24)
Agreed 100%. Awesome band. (Even if they are from New Jersey) - Comment on words to live by (2009-06-18 17:49:35)
I love this sort of thing. These are like the tracts written by "communist" college-kids. It brightens my day to imagine some day, twenty years in the future, when the person who created these will, upon reflecting on them for a moment, visibly cringe while sitting in his armchair watching TV. - Comment on garter piercings (2009-05-23 03:43:37)
From my (limited) understanding, this kind of piercing doesn't really need to be 'maintained,' as it is usually only in for a short time. I'm guessing that this chick is at some tattoo convention or other sort of idiot jamboree. - Comment on Breaking Bad (2009-05-14 07:47:48)
@nyokki: I think you're missing the point. One of the main explorations of the show is how Hal is so blinded by his desire to leave a nest-egg for his family that he cannot see the consequences of what he's doing. More to the point, I'm not sure he cares (about his students, at least.) I don't know how much you've seen, but Hal is a pretty bad dude. - Comment on 9-11 was an inside job - demand the truth (2009-04-27 19:08:15)
@dieAntagonista: The problem, I think, is that it's too easy to find "neutral" sources to support any argument (at least in an instance like this where the event in question is shrouded by so much chaos.) What it all comes down to is what does the individual believe? Frankly, I just think that it would be impossible for a conspiracy that would require thousands of participants to remain air-tight for eight years. This is not Churchill and some military Brass saying "The Japs are gonna hit Hawaii. Don't say anything." Keeping this quiet (even without the ridiculous inclusion of a 'controlled demolition') would simply be too hard. Especially when you keep in mind how many watchdogs there are on both sides of the fence. Remember when Vince Foster ate a bullet in the park? What I have yet to have sufficiently explained is: What was the goal? History has shown that when people are inclined to slaughter their own countrymen for political or profit-related motives, they are willing to follow through. I can't believe that Cheney and Rumsfeld would have come up with this only to walk away after a few years. It just doesn't compute.
