Today I'd have to go with: C) Sig P229 (w/ surefire G2) with 13 S&W.40cal 165gr. Federal Hydrashoks. It's my all purpose bad-guy stopper. I suspect most people with experience would agree that an AK is a really bad idea inside a house, as it is almost guaranteed to over-penetrate at that range and just cause a clean puncture that goes out the other side. You're likely to NOT kill the bad-guy and end up killing someone in the neighbor's house. What you really want is to disperse all of the kinetic energy such that the bullet ends up just inside the skin on the far side of the would-be attacker, which is generally 12-16 inches if you account for clothing, and medium to large sized attackers. A .4x caliber handgun is pretty decent, ballistically speaking. There are also special rounds for close quarters combat, designed to be highly frangible (breaks up easily), but still have stopping power. Shotguns are ideal for most indoor uses, as they tend to disperse easily without penetrating walls. They are much safer for cases where you want to reduce the potential for "collateral damage". I am considering a shotgun (Mossberg 500 or the Benelli M4 Super 90) as the primary weapon for in-home defense. - Comment on Kim Jong Il (2008-05-29 19:45:06)

P229R? - Comment on Global Distribution Of Water (2008-05-29 17:38:03)
This is from the UNESCO World Water Assessment Program. http://www.unesco.org/water/wwap/ Unfortunately, deuce, photovoltaic conversion is still really inefficient. 30% is currently the highest efficiency rate. I say we level Utah and use it for solar and wind. - Comment on The US pays pittance for Gas (2008-05-27 17:37:33)
3.937 is the average fuel price today according to the US DOE. http://eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_home_page.html /clue - Comment on A Job Well Done (2008-05-25 09:43:03)
Well done, sir. Soak up those poisons for us so they never make it to a recycler who can dispose of them safely. Living to old age is for sissies! Here's a small list of the toxins you've likely exposed yourself and others to with this little tantrum: lead, mercury, arsenic, dioxins, PCBs, TBBA, PBB, PBDE. - Comment on The Sabbatic Goat (2008-05-22 17:23:58)

Guido is pejorative slang directed against working-class Italians. It's only recently that it has come to be used to describe the common behavior and looks of the Jersey-douche. - Comment on Nazi olympics (2008-05-03 20:20:40)
I stand corrected. Reboot makes a valid point about the timing. In 1936, most of the world was still burying their collective heads in the sand with regard to what was going on in Germany. Remember, also, that the committee that selects the host-country does so years in advance, two years before Hitler later came to power in 1933. China, however, is moving AWAY from tyranny, though they still have a long way to go. I think they shouldn't be hosting the Olympics due to their still terrible behavior, but to compare them to Nazi Germany is pretty far-fetched. Mao certainly caused the deaths of millions, but that was many years ago. The scale and scope of what is going on in China is entirely different. - Comment on High Definition Fall Out - (2008-05-03 17:38:55)
Fuck SONY! I have a netgear box (EVA8000) that plays HD and damn nearly everything else I want, right off my NAS. The next generation of content delivery isn't going to be BluRay, it will be a nice fat pipe and huge capacity HDDs. - Comment on Nazi olympics (2008-05-03 07:58:21)
Hitler invented the olympic torch relay to distract attention from his mass murdering of millions.
