Because the US military is there to protect Muslims. It's a nice lie, and it might even be a byproduct of US military presence, but let's not be gullible. It's true that the mindset of lots of people over in the middle east is comparable to the people you'd find in the old testament of the bible. But is the US blameless for the unrest in the middle east? Not in the least. Does some of this stem from religious ideas? Christian *and* Muslim? You bet. It's great that USA isn't sending rape squads to third world countries, although that's setting the bar rather low. We expect more from USA, more so in the past than now, perhaps.
