Isn't there a constitutional right to not have your free user id deleted from a web site someone else pays for? KK - Comment on Asteroid orbits (2014-07-09 18:24:10)

To be fair... she left the porn behind, and has paid a price for having participated in that. She is one tough customer. - Comment on Russia, circa 1910 (2010-08-28 06:06:12)
>> color cameras didn’t come out till at least 1960?s. <>It was probably this Miethe-Bermpohl camera which Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii later used to make his now-celebrated color photographs of Russia before the 1917 revolution. << [shrug] KWL - Comment on fuck this guy (2010-08-11 07:02:49)
Leviticus 18:22 is the passage of the Old Testament often cited to support the notion that "God hates Fags." If you can read all the way through Leviticus, and stomach all its various pronouncements about activities and practitioners that are on God's sh*t list, (and subject to execution), then I'd argue that you are mentally ill; certainly, you have no place living in a tolerant society like the Industrialized World. It seems to me that the folks who latch onto Lev. 18:22 do so simply because they wish, for whatever reason, to look down their noses at some group of "other." Since few of them abstain from eating pork, (which is discussed just a few paragraphs away), and fewer still hold up signs denouncing butchers or consumers of port products, they cannot claim "strict adherence" to the Bible's precepts. (You know, the thing about sin is that it should be *tempting*, so once someone has told me that homosexuality is a sin, that person has already told me more than I ever wanted to know about their proclivities. Jus' sayin'.) - Comment on how the media can manipulate our viewpoint (2010-04-25 16:25:23)
I confess, I'm astounded that anyone thought this was worth mentioning. I mean, for goodness sake, this is a revelation? That if someone lies to you, or withholds information, you'll come away with a false impression? There was someone who wasn't already aware of that? I think the important questions are things like: Who is most motivated to try to misrepresent material fact? What is the motivation of the source of a story? THis is why it pays to listen to a wide variety of sources. (I won't bother pointing out that if you had, for example, unquestioningly accepted that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction, you'd have been perhaps surprised when none turned up. But then that wasn't the "media's" fault, was it?) - Comment on The joke - on us (2009-08-08 15:25:58)
Wait! Remind me again, because I keep losing track... *who* was the President when the Heroic Capitalists on Wall Street took off with a few tens of billions of my economy's wealth? And now I'm supposed to get angry at Obama for being "socialist"? I have two questions: 1) What is Socialism? Define it, please, and then tell me how it applies to any new government program, and how those differ from programs that already exist. And, 2) Why isn't Dick Cheney dangling from the end of a rope?
