China has watched Russia's misadventure in Ukraine closely. Likely, they are not thinking to themselves: "Yeah, buddy, let's sign up for some of that, ourselves." The thing about being a Nuclear Power is that it constrains you in ways you wouldn't expect. We have troops and U.S. Navy ships in Taiwan... China simply cannot engage in a shooting war there until and unless our troops and ships are removed.

My favorite part of all this is he claims he wanted to buy Twitter over "Freedom of Speech" concerns, and then teamed up with those well-known "Freedom of Speech" advocates, the Saudi Royal Family. TBF: I don't think that Justice Hand Maid's Tale, or anyone else, had considered that American Jurisprudence would come to be directed by the bat-shit crazy moron from the 17th Century, Sir Matthew Hale, who, among other things, condemned at least two women to death for witchcraft. Now, thanks to Justice Alito, America can be made Great, Again, and women returned to their exalted place as property of American men. We are living in the dumbest of all possible time-lines.

This isn't really news... and it's certainly not as "dark" as the tweet suggests. It was the formalization of her defense's claim, acknowledged, and unopposed by the prosecution, that one of the counts against her was simply a repeat of another count. She's still likely going to jail for a looooong time. The Judge also refused to overturn the jury's verdict based on the notion that one of the jurors failed to disclose that they'd been sexually assaulted.

Alito cites Sir Matthew Hale, who, in the 1600's sentenced at least two women to death for *witchcraft*, as the basis for his decision. SO, obviously the guy was an absolute expert on EVERY-FSCKING-THING, and we should definitely seek to model our society on his deep thoughts.
